This camera is well made
Know what your getting. First image quality wow, zoom limited. IR good, range also limited. This camera is perfect indoors with the IR, but outside sees about 10 yards. In day light, it has amazing picture quality. Its function buttons simple but easy to use. I love mine.

For what it is, it's great
Now if you don't go into thinking your getting a $1300 camcorder this Camcorder for the price films amazing the zoom is the only real thing lacking. The options it does have surprised me I think you can even do Color night vision and mainly why I bought for the nigh vision, but has so much more motion detection, 4k/1080/ time lapse. The battery is tiny I laughed when I saw it but it holds a charge for a long time so I would give it a chance and just be realistic as to what it is a inexpensive camcorder but I can't complain I may buy another one before my first Ghost hunt

Not a general purpose camcorder
Another reviewer describes this as an action-camera, and that is closer to the truth than the manufacturer's description might lead you to believe. It is entry-level at best. First, the imager is 8 megapixels, so the settings above 8 megapixels are poor interpolations for still images. I would not recommend any of the higher resolution settings at all. The zoom is also interpolated and then digitally cropped to achieve the zoom effect. The image rapidly looses detail, so only a little zooming is tolerable. Dynamic range is very limited as well, so images with bright skies will wash the sky with pure white unless you adjust the exposure for still images. Video does not have much for exposure compensation, so just figure on unsatisfactory bright light videos. Low-light outdoors and most indoor videos are also going to suffer, so don't expect much. If you can live with the wide-angle, short focal-length lens, and shoot only stills and video under cloudy-bright outdoors, or supply sufficient diffused lighting indoors, the results aren't completely horrible. The IR function can be useful at close range, and might be the best application for this little beast. Buy several batteries if you want much shooting time, and plan on relatively short video segments. Fortunately, you can also run on USB power if available. Just experiment in advance so you know the limits. Bottom line, this is priced like a toy camcorder for good reason, it kind of is toy-like. As long as you know the limits and work under those constraints you can have some fun with it. Just don't think it's a "real camcorder", 'cause it's not a real camcorder. Caveat Emptor, buyer beware.

it's pretty good
4k recording is jittery, might be too much for this canner to handle. 1080p recording seems fine. The bag they give you is just barely big enough for the camera itself, and it is definitely not big enough to carry the cables, charger, or an extra battery. The camera is small, easy to use, and the controls are intuitive so you can get started immediately. Also it has a touch screen which is very convenient. Just a quick comment on other reviews that I've read. Some people seem to think they are going to get professional quality audio from this $140 camera. That is simply ridiculous. If you want professional quality audio, you need to buy professional microphones, wire them into a professional mixing board, and then plug the mixing board into a professional audio recorder, and then you need to mix your audio with your resulting video. This is the only way your video is going to have professional quality audio.

The zoom is advertised as 16x. NOT really.
The zoom is advertised as 16x. NOT really in my experience. It is a good first time or spare compact video camera for general use. However, if zoom is required, it might be 2-3x at best. I am a rail fan and like to use it to record videos of trains using a small tripod. Yes, I know, I have been told by more than one lady to get a life. Anyhow, many train shoots can be close to the action where I am shooting from a platform. However, the camera is not a 16x zoom camera for any distant video of trains which is a bummer. If you might be thinking about taking wildlife video, the answer is definitely NOT a great choice UNLESS you can be safely close to the wildlife. I will not be using this camera to video alligators! The mono sound is so-so for the train video shoots but a diesel locomotive is a diesel locomotive anyway. Want a shotgun mike in the near future. I love to use the 60 fps 1080 setting. I can stop the video frame by frame at home to read the graffiti on the slower moving trains on the railcars.

Worth every penny
Great camera for the money. Night vision cool. The sound I will probably get a Mike to improve sound, just not loud enough for me. Easy to use and actually comes with everything you need to start recording. Would I recommend this YES I would. I think it's a great camera for recording and to start off with.

Works well for what I wanted it for
I know there are a lot of complaints out there. I don't know what other people expect or what they are using it for. I bought it for the IR capabilities and the capacity (being able to use a 128 GB card, which I purchased separately). For the specific application I purchased it, it seems to work plenty adequately. I plug it in, set it to IR, and let it run overnight. I split the recording into multiple files of 23 minutes each, which was fine, but successfully recorded about 8 hours total, I think, until I shut it off. I've only used it twice, so far, so time will tell if it holds up. But so far, so good.

Video Quality Good; Sound Quality Poor
I purchased this camcorder to use for video auditions. I routed the audio output of a professional-grade audio mixer to the camera's Mic Input port, but the sound quality of the resultant recording was simply abysmal. The picture quality was fine, although the zoom function worked in "steps" (i.e., not a smooth transition). While this camcorder might be fine for recording a family outing (which most phones can do well enough nowadays), it cannot be used for anything requiring good quality audio playback
