Easy to use, install, and good value
My old sensor disappeared when I had a my garage door replaced. It was on the old door and didn't make the transfer to the new door. I had the old version, still do on other doors, of this product. I was pleasantly surprised how easy this new version was to set up, and works with the app. Setup is a breeze. Just follow the directions. Took my maybe 10-15 minutes to install, setup, and verify it works. Works fantastically. Price was reasonable. There was plenty of cord length and wire length to get everything plugged in. Connected to the app and my internet first try. Great product. Lets me know everything going on with my garage door and opener unit.

Great unit - GREAT phone customer service when needed!
I've had this installed and their app running for about 7 months (DIY by me, a 60+ y/o female). It was easy to install and worked right away. There are helpful videos on-line you can watch also (and I ran it on my laptop while in the garage to follow along with the steps to install). It has been great UNTIL YESTERDAY - but their CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE PERSON WAS GREAT! Which is why I'm finally reviewing this. App stopped showing the control and acted like I needed to set up a new unit suddenly. I tried unplugging it, and even unplugged my router. That didn't resolve it. The app stopped recognizing that I had the Hub and sensor installed. The HELP/APP CHAT on my phone was useless and a waste of time IMHO, but gave me a phone number to call for help. After calling you need to give answers to an (AI??) agent voice. NOTE: be sure you hear a clicking after your answers when first calling, or you'll just be sitting there while waiting for it to recognize your answer! Happened to me, and it was waiting for a YES answer not explanation! Once that was done, I was connected quickly to help. Agent was patient even when my phone cut out a few times since I was in the garage. He even asked if he could call me back if we were disconnected. He walked me through the app menu to get to where I could reset the hub (turned out the hub on the garage door wasn't connecting). He waited until all steps on app were followed by me (many are skipped such as installing Chamberlain units on wall and garage door). I re-paired our (Genie) Garage door opener to the unit (HELPFUL HINT - use a long broom handle rather than have to get on a ladder to push the pairing button!!) and he waited until the garage door worked (lights blinked and unit beeps and door opened once paired) and waited to make sure I was able to see the unit in my app to control it and close the door. It's a great unit, and It's been nice to be able to open the door with the app while in my vehicle. Really, it has worked great for 7 months. I did have to change out the battery on the small hub that attaches to the inside of the garage door much sooner than I thought (about 2 months after I first got it installed). I had a notification in the app that it was low. It was easy to do and the battery was available at my grocery store. If for some reason I ever need to get another one, I'd choose Chamberlain. Worked great with my 9 y/o Genie Model 4024 garage door opener and I feel they'd help with any issues I may have in the future.

Works great and easy to install, the app works great as well!
This system is great especially if you have an older garage opener. Our garage door openers were installed in 2003 and it was compatible. Make sure you check before your purchase, but it seems to cover quite a few systems. It was pretty straight forward install for most DIY people out there. We love the app and the ability to close it from the app. Especially like the available schedule built into the app. We were waking up in the morning once and a while only to find we left the garage door open all night long. Now we have ours set to close automatically at 9 pm, haven't left the garage door open since we got it! No more asking your other half if they closed the garage door after you went to bed and then having to get up and go check. You can just bring up the app to check the status. It also gives alerts if selected on the app as to when it opens and closes. You can open and close the doors from anywhere.

Easy install and it seems to work beautifully!
Just what I was looking for! Mostly- at least. I wanted to get my mom something for her garage door opener that would allow her to check on it/close it remotely. She often has to go outside at night to check the door because she forgets if she closed it or not. This device does the trick, and was extremely easy to install and set up! The app did a great job of walking me through each and every step. It seems to work great! We’ve tested it when far away from the house, and it promptly registered the inputs. Love the blinking safety feature too- good to alert others when closing the door. Quality seems very good, and items are light enough to securely place anywhere. My only gripes are that it’s not Alexa enabled, and that some features within the ecosystem are locked behind a subscription. Not thrilled about that, and it makes me feel like I’ll eventually have to upgrade to a more cost effective solution if I ever do need the additional security features. For now though- this gadget does the trick and seems to do it well. Was worried about WiFi connectivity, but even with the router being pretty far from the garage it still seems to connect well. Really hoping they eventually add Alexa integration (and don’t lock it behind a paywall). Beyond that, great product! I’m excited to see how well the other devices in the system play with this gadget.

Don’t trust the robot!
Let me start by saying I am a tech savvy-enough millennial but, admittedly, a latecomer to the smart home realm. As it happens, my husband and I both constantly question whether or not we had shut the garage door upon leaving the house. What a great technology to solve our problem and set our minds at ease! Wrong. Ohhh how innocently wrong we were. So here we go. Set up was a breeze. Installed the app and had the Smart Garage Control installed and working within 20 minutes. How cool is this! We could tell when the garage door was open, the app would notify us if the door was open for more than 10 minutes, and we could close the door from anywhere in the world on the app! Perfect! Love it. Wrong. My husband and I leave for the gym at 2:12pm (I know this because the history in the app told me. Cool!). We come home from the gym at 3:52…to the garage door WIDE OPEN (very NOT cool!) I pop open the app and it tells me it has been open for 8 minutes…since 3:44. Who opened the garage 8 minutes prior to us coming home you might ask? No clue. But it wasn’t the app. Quite perplexing and unnerving. Nevertheless, the app would have notified me that it had been open after 10 minutes. So at least there was that. WRONG. I’m leaving to walk the dogs and the door randomly closes as I’m walking past it…13 minutes after it miraculously opened. No notification that it was open for more than 10 minutes. WTF. Now I’m starting to think I’ve angered the smart home gods. So I’m walking my dogs, opening and closing the garage door on the app. Everything’s working as it should, except the notifications. I leave the door open to see how the app will notify me after 10 minutes. Spoiler: it doesn’t. I get back from our walk at 4:40pm and set out to do some internet sleuthing to figure out 1. Why the door is opening on its own and 2. Why I’m not getting notifications in the app. Well, the internet has thoughts and I try them. I unlearn and relearn all the remotes to the garage, uninstall and reinstall the app. Phew. How great is technology and the peace of mind it brings. WRONG! Fast forward to today. As I’m slightly paranoid by the occurrences of yesterday, I unplug the Smart Control panel…just in case. I get home from work 8 hours after my husband had left for work…to a WIDE OPEN GARAGE! Now, I’m a reasonable person and I can problem solve but how in the robot hell does the garage randomly open when the robot is UNPLUGGED?? The only rational conclusion I could come to was this f*ing thing was possessed by some Chamberlain demon or the robots were staging a coup. Either way, it needed to go. Now. I perform a Smart Garage Control exorcism by resetting the control panel to factory settings, pulled the power from the robot, and took the sensor off the door. I sent it back to the hell from which it came in hopes to appease this garage demon. As a further step I reset all the garage door openers again and will sage the entire house. Please keep us, our sanity, and the security of our home in your thoughts. P.S. Never once did the app notify me of any opening or closing or ghost openings. P.S.S. I am not interested in risking another robot uprising so my home will remain a dumb home.

Fast and easy!
Don’t worry about all the long reviews or anything that says here are some things that you wish you knew. At the end of the day following the instructions and hook this baby up in about seven minutes. The only thing to be aware of is that if you are inviting other people is authorized users within the app, have them download the app first before clicking on the link that you email them to join. Otherwise, it is a fantastic device that works exactly as advertised and is super easy to install and set up.

OPPOSITE EXPERIENCES!!!
I stress about packages sitting on the doorstep, so I was really excited about Amazon Key where they deliver packages inside your garage with this Chamberlain garage door opener. I am so pleased with this convenience and no longer worry about packages. I have set this up in TWO houses in difference states, with different internet providers/equipment and totally different experiences. In the first house, it was very easy to set this up. I followed the instructions in the box to initially get started. It comes with two parts: a “hub” which is the brain of the thing that plugs in to an electrical outlet, and a sensor that sticks to the back of your garage door with provided Velcro sticky mounts. First you install the MyQ app on your phone, and the app provides you with step-by-step instructions. It’s really easy. It also asks if you want to “show me”(watch a short video for certain steps). You can skip the short videos if you want to, but I found them to be very helpful. The major steps are: (1) sync the hub to your phone (2) connect the hub to your wi-fi (3) stick the sensor onto the back of your garage door (4) test the connection between the garage door sensor and the hub and test that it opens the door. After everything tests out okay, they tell you how to mount the hub in a permanent place. It needs to be plugged into an outlet in your garage, within 50 feet of your wi-fi source (your router), and at least 6 feet off the floor. I mounted mine to the ceiling in the garage, plugged it into the same outlet where the garage door opener is plugged in. The whole setup was very easy. So far, Amazon has delivered 4 packages inside my garage—out of the rain and away from passers by. I do not usually have a need to open my garage door remotely, so I pretty much use this just for Amazon Key deliveries. But, have you ever left home and then wondered if you remembered to close the garage door? This gizmo will let you know if your door is open or shut. Relief. Some people complained that the MyQ app is not integrated with other apps like SmartThings. I don’t really care about that. This device cost $30, and it came with a coupon to get $30 off my first Amazon Key delivery (limit of one). I have two individual garage doors, and purchased a second sensor for the second door. The first garage door setup was basically free. How can you beat that?? I had such a good experience with house 1, that I decided to do the same set up in our vaation home, in a different state. TOTALLY OPPOSITE EXPERIENCE tried literally everything, but the Hub would not connect. I finally concluded that my brand of router/modem in the vacation home was not compatible. I spent many hours researching this on the internet and also on the phone with both MyQ and Chamberlain both. They were both very helpful, but NO LUCK it just would not work. The router we were using was TP Link AC1900 Archer 8, and the modem was Netgear CM600. One or the both of them just did not work with this MyQ devise. TWO YEARS later, we changed internet providers to Century Link--they provide their own router/modem so I am not longer using the TP Link/Netgear equipment. I decided to try the MyQ hub again and it was VERY EASY to connect with no issues with Century Link's Quantum Fiber equipment. We have two separate garage doors with two separate openers. I was able to connect both garage openers to the same hub, and order an extra sensor for the second garage door. I am VERY HAPPY to be able to use Amazon Key service in our vacation home now. I don't know why, but it currently costs the SAME regardless of whether you purchase a complete HUB WITH the sensor OR a second sensor alone. Even though I could use the original HUB for the second garage door, I ordered the complete hub/sensor set and am using only the sensor for the second garage door. I figure that I have a "free" backup HUB in case I have a problem with it later. I write honest reviews to help others make informed purchases. I do that because I read reviews myself and appreciate how helpful they can be. I hope my review helped you.

Pretty Amazing - after a couple of setup glitches
After a few annoyances in setting up my new Smart Garage Control hub, I have to say it's pretty amazing and works perfectly. Setup glitches: Their written instructions are pretty useless. Their app that leads you through setup doesn't really match their video on how to set up the unit. And then, ok, my fault I guess, but a quick warning: when you click "add a device" in your app, make sure you select the right device! The 6 choices I could see on my phone screen had only one that sounded close, "Garage Door Opener," which I figured wasn't really it, but it was the only one of the 6 choices that fit at all, so I clicked it. Then the app kept telling me I needed to turn on bluetooth, but it was already turned on and there was no way to bypass that screen. Finally, I stumbled across choices 7 & 8 when I accidentally scrolled down on my phone's screen and choice 7 was "Smart Garage Hub." However, then the app got stuck on "connecting" even though the green light on the unit indicated it was connected. A quick internet search told me to reset the unit (and how), and once that was done, the unit connected to everything flawlessly. So what should have been a 5-minute installation process probably took 45 minutes, but the end result is perfect. Seems almost like science fiction that my 25-year old garage door opener could suddenly become a Smart device without hardwiring anything, but it did!
