Earth (Second Edition): The Definitive Visual Guide

This is an incredibly beautiful book, and it is full of fascinating information about the world we live in. Though I bought this as a resource for homeschool, I have spent quite a bit of time just looking at it and enjoying it on my own. It's too advanced to teach from for second grade, but the pictures can speak to anyone if any age, and it will still be good in a few years for teaching. I highly recommend this book to anyone. You will not regret the purchase!

You can't get a better introduction to Earth sciences than this. It is told by way of the history of earth itself, starting with the Big Bang. It is beautifully designed, so that even a single pair of large pages offers a wealth of thought provoking information. Photographs, diagrams, history, text, are used in a consistent way for all of the many topics covered. The book has a detailed index, as well as in-chapter cross references. It also has something you almost never see--a to-scale timeline of all history--showing how very recent we and all we know are.

A lot of work went into the making of this very educational book. I have purchased a copy for my son-in-law and also, my daughter has her copy. It would be beautiful even if it were just placed on a coffee table, however when you open the cover a whole new world opens up in an easy to read and understandable style. Should anyone have a thirst for knowledge and a love of nature this is the book for him/her.

We love this book; it has beautiful pictures and a ton of information. A fun earth day gift to explore during this remote learning time. It arrived in perfect condition as well.

I did Geograpy and Geology at school, Grology and Geophysics at Uni and just love passing on my love of the subjects to the youngsters, this in one book is an amazing way to do it, it is a book that will stay with many of its recipients for life…wonderful but I am very biased.

Yet another excellent reference from DK publishing and the Smithsonian Institute. I grew up with DK books covering various disciplines such as science and history as a child and I am quite certain that my children will now enjoy the full color illustrations and vast wealth of information these books provide.

Another excellent DK Smithsonian book, similar to the Science book. Both of these books deserve a place in every house. Also like the Science book, there was a large greasy stain on the book cover which I was fortunately able to remove with a wet cloth.

Purchased along with others in this great science series for my heavily non-fiction science-oriented 9 year old grandson; he is now almost 12 and still returns to these books for reference.

As with all DK books ,and I have quite a few,this one is no exception to their stunning visual displays.
