Get the right size
There are at least 3 different sizes of these things. I have used the large one found at truck stops for my radio mic for the last 10 years Its been yanked on and sprung back 100's of times I'm sure and still works great. I have the middle sized one on my fishing vest for forceps or small pliers and its has worked great even though its been wet and sandy who knows how many times. The small one here is great for nippers and TY rite sized knot tool. All work great as long as you use the right one for what you are attaching to it. I don't recommend the screw on type because the screw comes loose on your vest. Would suck to loose $80 nippers on $15 zinger.

These work great for diving gear!
I have my small noisemaker on this small gear keeper and it keeps it attached, but allos me to pull it out and use it with some length underwater. Perfect.

Only for the smallest of items
This item really is for the lightest of items. It will not hold a GoPro out of the water as the weight will drag it down. Use it for whistles, a very small slate, pencil, small compass. It will not hold your computer/console etc. Get the bigger versions of this(which ARE good). It does seems sturdy and reliable for small items and the build quality is good. Helpful? Poor quality and does not hold much weight
I purchased these to keep my regulators (octopus + pony) close to my body near my BCD within easy reach however they are not durable enough to hold the regulators near me. They drift away so not within easy reach and also creates an entanglement hazard. The clips are also difficult to attach to a D-ring because they are too small to be of much use. I struggled to attached it but quite difficult to snap on and off. I'm not sure what practical purchase these have as my regulators are not heavy.

You gotta have several
If you want to hang stuff on your BCD get several. Don't to worry about dropping things. It also helps to clean up your rig to keep from dragging octopus hoses, console hoses along the sea floor. Hang a reel, light, noise maker what have have you. I've used this one on 10 dives so far and with a little rinsing it still works like new. It has a break away just in case you do get snagged by a passing diver or rock or grouper or turtle or whatever.

Not very strong
I bought this to hold my flashlight. However, it was not strong enough to hold it. I guess this would be ok for something super light weight. Other than that I would not recommend.

Smaller size doesn't hold much weight at all
I bought this with the intended use of holding my back up light to one of the D rings on my Buoyancy Control Device (BCD) while scuba diving, however, I think I needed a larger one to hold the weight of the light. I figured because it was a smaller torch light this would be able to handle it no problem. For the most part it does, except about an inch of the coil is pulled down from the weight of the light. No big deal underwater where that doesn't appear to be the case, but it makes it easy to get tangled when on the surface. I'm sure the larger version would hold the light fine without any slack being pulled from the coil. This one would be better suited for a whistle or something smaller and lighter. Maybe I'll buy the bigger one to better hold my light, or maybe I'll just stick with this one because I'm cheap.
