Linux Command Line and Shell Scripting Bible

I wish I had this book earlier in my studies. The book is easy to read and the codes are intuitive. The authors go directly to the topic of each chapter. However, I wish the print quality of the book could be better.

Very good book for Content Delivery Networks and Cloud based networks. I used to work for two. Now I have my own network.

My book arrived this morning. It appears to be a great reference that will be highly useful and I look forward to diving into the content more deeply. However, I wanted to echo/expand on other's comments on the book condition. I ordered this "new" and there is no sign of wear or use on the book pages themselves (it even still has a bit of a 'new book smell'). However, the book seems to have been treated roughly at some point prior to shipment as there is visible wear on the covers and spine. Not enough that I personally care (internal damage would bother me a lot more), but it is certainly more than I would expect from a 'new' product and this may be a show-stopper for others.

I’d give it a 5 star review except that I feel Some things are glossed over. One example that comes to mind is when the authors explain about creating partitions and files systems then mounting them they say be sure to put it in /etc/fstab but then do t explain that you have to be root (or sudo) or show the format. There is a specific format for that file. Other than that a few small items such as that, the book is excellent.

Considering the inside looks fine, the actual content itself seems great, and the fact that no Barnes & Noble within 50 miles of me has it in stock, I won't be returning it. However, it is ridiculous to purchase a "brand new" book with this amount of external wear. I'm going to let it slide this time but whoever is responsible for this needs to tighten up.

when you go into a bookshop, you can see in what condition the book is. When you order it via Amazon, you never know. I had one book with water damage. One book was missing images. one book had damaged pages. This book: 40 pages weren't cut right at the edge.

No doubt the information in this book is very detailed and useful. My only gripe is that the book looks worn and second hand. Kinda fishy for a brand new product. This is the second time I’ve received a crappy physical product from the Wiley publishing company through amazon.

This book is fantastic, guiding through bash scripts, I am learning a lot even though I have used linux for about 20 years.
