Great lightweight rod
I normally fish small creeks and ponds, using local bait (such as grasshoppers, grubs, ants, dragonflies), or lightweight lures. I use no weight or sometimes a small split shot. I like a lightweight pole with a lot of "whip" action to cast with. I imagine I might have to play the 20-inch trout I sometimes come across, but that will make even more fun. My regular pole (for 70 years) is getting a bit worn, and the eyes are getting corroded. I have been looking for just such a pole as this. I expect to hang my veteran pole on the wall now, and rely on this superb rod. It's not for heavy casting or trolling, but is ideal for my use.

Broke within 1 month.
The rod broke within a month of use also the cork handle was loose...moved up and down. Bad quality. I would not purchase again. Ended up buying a $20 Berkley rod from Walmart and it worked better. Update Manufacturer contacted me and sent a replacement, free of charge. Great customer service and communication. I will purchase from again.

Absolute Garbage
I bought two of these. They seemed well built when received... nice and light. Boy was I wrong. Both rods broke the same day first time out. One broke right in half when my hook got snagged on a rock... not even with alot of force. Second rod snapped the tip off about 5 minutes later when it gently brushed against a bush while walking back to the car. I'm not sure what type of brittle material these things are made of, but trust me... steer clear of these things and stick with a different brand.

Nice rod, breaks easily
I have purchased i think three of these ultralight rods. I really like them BUT they are extremely fragile. I broke the tips off the first two. Today i broke the final one in half trying to remove a hook from a snag. I guess the final failure was my fault. I used poor technique to loose the hook. But when using this rod be sure to remember that it is more fragile than other rods in your arsenal. I like the casting and sensitivity, i use 1/4 ounce and less lures with 2 or 4 lb test mono. It is a good rod for ultra light fishing. I do not think i will purchase again. too fragile.

The Glass slipper for BFS Zephyr reel
I've been searching for the perfect matchup to the Kastking Zephyr BFS reel that I purchased on Amazon a couple weeks ago. I think this is the 4th or 5th Sougayilang rod that I have purchased off of Amazon. None of them have been the proverbial *glass slipper* until I cast a 2.9 g test weight earlier this evening on 4 lb Berkley trilene XL somewhere between 90 and 100 ft! that's 30 plus yards with a 1/10th of an ounce weight! This rod is officially designated as 'Ultralight' from 1/8 oz up to 3/4 of an ounce by Sougayilang. This rod has a flex profile that seems to do well with lighter than the advertised weight printed on the rod. This model has a more overall flexing property instead of just flexing at the tip.(which in my personal opinion makes a rod unruly unpredictable and inaccurate when casting light bait/lures) The long casting distance may have something to do with the reel guides looking and feeling like obsidian glass, they are ceramic inserts and they seem to do well with the 4 lb monofilament that I was casting with. After getting used to the way the rod loads up and managed further and further casts I then basically shot the whole spool (because the Zephyr reel likes as little line as possible on the spool) I think I had about 110 ft on the spool and I ran it down to the tape! I am very pleased with the way this rod behaves with that particular reel. Almost all the other rods made casting with the Kastking Zephyr BFS reel a real challenge and quite honestly-a pain in the butt... with countless bird nests, some of them so severe I had to burn 10 to 20 yards of line off the reel.(was even worse with the 6 lb mono Trilene XL) the extra weight of heavier line created too much inertia which overpowered the braking system on that reel. I'm fairly new to baitcasting, I have a solid year under my belt casting with the Abu Garcia Black Max which is what I use to throw heavy baits with, the B.Max rod is too stiff for BFS, so I had to invest in a new reel, and a rod that would help the reel cast to its full potential casting ultralight baits like the trout magnet, which weighs a whopping 1.7 g with the jig head attached to the plastic bait... I am Looking forward to putting in a full weekend with this setup on a river/creek north of the town I live in, where there are multi-species to be had this time of year, from trout to Bass it's all in there, and I hope to pull a few out take some pictures and then let them go. The rod that I'm writing about is the PAE602UL model 6 ft ultra light CASTING rod with full cork handle, ceramic line guides, low profile reel seat and bait holder. She is a beautiful piece of work, a Cinderella in the making, well done Sougayilang!

Not Quite Total Crap
I bought this to use for light fishing for bream but it broke the first time I took it out. Couldn't use it at all. Update, the company reached out to me and offered a complete refund or another rod, but I have already replaced it with something different. The customer service was very easy to work with. I would consider buying another rod from them because of this.

Great Rods at a Great Price
This rod brand is hard to pronounce, but easy to fish with. At least as good as my other popular name brand rods. If you are on the fence, buy it - it’s a quality rod at a great price.

...Worth every penny...
...The first fish I caught with this rod was a 2 1/2 lb Rainbow Trout, a really good fight... Small fish are fun and big ones are a real challenge on ultralight rigs... Since Shakespeare(meanies), discontinued the ultralight spincast rod I had used for years, I tried this one out.... I like how the ferrules are reinforced so the line won't cut it, like the Shakespeare version did. I use a Zebco Delta ZD2 reel w/ 6lb test, and, on my previous rod, have landed 5 lb bass, 7 pound catfish, 7 lb pike and a 4 lb trout on these light rigs... I expect this one do do better, and consider it of good quality and a real bargain for the money...

The connection between the 2 pieces of rod is loose. After about 50 casts the top half fell off while casting, now i constantly check the connection and alignment before each cast. I'll probably have to glue it together.

It's a little confusing as the description calls it a lightweight ultralight. The rating on the rod makes it a light rod not ultralight. Pros It has great feel and action. I've caught a lot of perch and crappie on this. Also was able to handle a medium sized pike and 5lbs largemouth. Con The 2 guides closest to the reel are twisted. They function but I don't like the look. Also the reel doesn't sit completely snug. There is some lateral movement. I fixed it with a dab of hot glue. For the price I don't regret this purchase. It think it's a light rod not an ultralight. Gave it 4 stars. Some quality control issues but it works as needed.
