TCI 616541 FAST-GATE Shifter, Black

Ok ill start by sayin this is a very nice and well built shifter the instructions how ever are for a 3 speed transmission if you are installing this on a 4 speed 700r4 like i did you will need to buy 4 new mounting bolt about 1/2 in longer no biggie 3 bucks at lowes and you will need to mount cable bracket on inside shifter instead of on face like instructions say if not you can not get shifter to go back to 1st gear and it will not adjust right i know spent 2 hrs before i changed cable mount on shifter then it took all of 10 min to adjust and had el camino moving again ... This was an 81 el camino install

I purchased this as a cost effective replacement for Hurst and B&M options. I have used both of those brands throughout my hot rodding time. Although both brands are still high quality they have become very overpriced in my opinion. TCI has been a long term brand of convertor and parts for transmissions I have good experience with. Seeking an alternative solution I made the decision to purchase this shifter. I am pleased with the quality, feel and design. The ratchet mechanism is solid and crisp, offers 3 or 4 speed options and the design fits well in any application. The cover is thick and not cheaply made and so far seems very durable. I would definitely recommend this for street or race.

Arrived quickly, it’s universal directions are not the best. I put back in the box all the parts that didn’t fit to my Chevy application... I bolted it up to a th350 Chevy transmission, good fit, looks nice, just would be nice to have a nicer looking and sturdier case instead of the black plastic but serves the purpose. Thanks guys.

Great shifter

I gave this shifter 3 stars which does not mean its not a good product,it works well and seems well made, my beef is with the hardware you are given nuts and bolts are mis matched some metric some standard,instructions and drawings not accurate.After buying part of the hardware myself and guessing at the "instructions" I got it installed and adjusted and it seems to work well.

This is the first TCI shifter I have purchased. The shifter is awesome. It’s a heck of a value, usually I buy B&M. The only hitch in the instructions for locating the shifter cable tab on the outside of the bracket. For overdrive transmissions, GM 4L80-60, the tab needs to be located on the inside of the bracket . ( I called TCI tech line and a human being answered on the first ring! ) Definitely recommend the shifter

I love this shifter I wished I had gotten tow

Installed in a 1993 Chev S.B. 1500 2WD with a 4L60 transmission. Fabbed a 4” base for the shifter to raise it up. Everything fit well, and works good. Had to tweak the cable mount at the transmission to relive the cable strain in 1st gear. Other than that it is a quality gate shifter.

Love it! Looks good and works great. Put this in my truck with a 4L60E, it was easy to install and adjust.

Bought for an 84 Mustang. Nice shifter, fits in the car nicely. Looks good.
