Katja Licorice Kokindjes (Buttons) 17.6 Oz Bag (Pack of 6)

My favorite Katja Drop. Invented by mistake in 1967. I used to work right across the factory in s'-Heerenberg where it happened.

I'm American but this is the best valance of sweet and salty Drop there is. The company was recently bought and I have product from old and new. I do suggest leaving the bag open for a few weeks before enjoying. Something in the process has changed and the flavor is better after a little aging. Still the best drop out there. I originally purchased because it was vegetarian. I don't know if they are using animal gelatin now.

Kokindjes are a traditional and very popular Dutch licorice. These round-shaped licorice (about the size of a small gumdrop) are fairly soft, chewy, and sweet. They have a strong but not overwhelming flavor of genuine licorice. Kokindjes are an excellent introduction to genuine Dutch licorice, particularly because they are not salty, like some Dutch licorice is. I've sampled more than thirty varieties of Dutch licorice, and Kokindjes are among my favorite.
