Works well and lasts - even in salt and heat and sun
I bought this improved Staypoollizer to replace an older one purchased in early 2012. The older one was still working well, but the attaching bolts had corroded (salt water) and the valve was leaky. (NB: here in South Florida, due to the climate, the sun, the salt, the mildew and the storms, everything corrodes and breaks down in time.) I could have easily repaired the old one with replacement parts from the manufacturer, but turns out it was easier and more cost effective to just buy a new device. And with the NXGEN valve, I got an improved design at a lower price than in 2012. I travel a lot, and my in-ground pool is small and in the sun, so evaporation (especially during the dry winter months) is a real problem. The Staypoolizer offers one more way for me to have peace of mind while I'm away - that the pool pump and filter will work properly and not be affected by lowered water levels. The only hints I can offer: I use pool O-ring lubricant on all the threads of all the hoses and connectors (salt water seems to gum up everything). I have a hose reel connected to the outdoor spigot; I suggest getting a GOOD quality brass Y-connector for the hose and the Staypoolizer. Connect the latter either with a custom length of high quality UV-resistant hose, or pick up a short hose reel connector at Home Depot for a few bucks. Also - the Staypoolizer web site offers an adjustable angle hose swivel for $7 - it's well made and allows the connecting hose to lay flat on the ground as it leads to the water source. I've used cheaper plastic auto-fill devices in my pool before - they can't last in my tropical climate, but Staypoolizer is easy to set up and super durable. Highly recommended.

A solid solution
This auto-fill valve is a great solution to the problem of keeping the water level up on a pool that doesn't have a built-in auto-fill system. I tried another popular valve and was never able to successfully get it to stop dripping. On this valve, they provide a stainless quick-connect that works very well, and should basically outlast the valve. The valve system is very simple and seems like it will be maintainable over time too. I like the simple way of raising and lowering the valve. They also provide a plastic adjustable angle connector - this did not work for me as I was not able to get it to stop leaking pretty profusely. I purchased a brass 90-degree angle, and along with the stainless hose I purchased, I think I have a good long-term solution. This is important because this is for a pool at a residence where we aren't there much of the time.

One less thing to worry about
If you are looking into this product, you have a pool. What a load of work that is! We have had our pool for 7 years and, if I can find anything to ease some of the burden of being a pool owner, I will get it. This is a great gadget. It is a simple design but saves me lots of time and worry. Before, it was scary looking out the window and seeing that the pool level went dangerously low since the day before and I would throw the hose into the pool for the evening, sometimes forgetting about it only to wake up the next morning with an overflow issue. This bad boy keeps the same level all the time. No fuss, no muss. Was extremely easy to get it up and running. I read that some other people got other gadgets to take care of water pressure, but I didn't have to worry with any of that. The only other thing I had to buy was a splitter since I have only one spigot in the back yard and didn't want to constantly disconnect my gadget to water my plants. Now it works great! My only regret is that I didn't get one of these 6 years ago. We haven't taken a vacation this summer, but the next time we want to, we will be able to leave the pump running and not worry about the water level. Everything to do with a pool is expensive, but this is definitely worth the money!

Vibrations after two years
Our pool fill line runs from the service entrance up the outside of our house, over the flat roof, and down the back side of our house to a faucet where we connect the hose to the Staypoollizer. The Staypoollizer worked flawlessly for two seasons. At the beginning of the third season, the pool fill line began to vibrate whenever the float valve was open. We could hear the vibrations inside the house because the line is supported by blocks resting on the flat roof as the line crosses the roof, and the vibrations were being transmitted through the roof. The vibrations happen when the float valve is slightly open -- for example when it is close to shutting off or when wind disturbs the water surface. If our pool fill line had been buried in the concrete slab or run through masonry walls, the vibrations would probably not be transmitted into the house. The people at Staypoollizer have been very helpful, suggesting several things I should try to deal with the problem. So far nothing has worked. I ordered a Staypoollizer repair kit for $12.95 that may give me another two vibration-free years and will update this review if it solves the problem. I have no other option than to use the existing pool fill line.

Perfect solution for our in-ground pool
I installed this as a part of my pool fill automation solution. I needed a system that reliably keeps our in-ground pool filled at the correct level year-round. I paired this Staypoolizer 2.0 with a Smart Water Valve WIFI Remote Control Faucet Timer that I purchased through Amazon 3 years ago. The combination allows me to schedule the fill days/times, and prevent overfilling or underfilling. Installation was easy. I chose to feed the Staypoolizer from my in-pool water fill pipe vs. having a hose lying on the pool deck (trip hazard as well as a potential point of failure when the hose degrades in the sun). The base is perfectly weighted to hold it in place on the pool edge. Adjusting the float height/water level was very simple. The functionality is exactly what I needed for my application. And I love the value for my money vs. having to install a different float/fill system.
