Charging problems with your Tesla Mobile charger? Here's the possible solution.
Manufactured by Hubbell, this much lower priced version is badged as Bryant, but it's the exact same outlet insofar as I can tell. It has literally eliminated all the charging problems I was having with the Leviton outlet my electrician installed three years ago when we first bought our Tesla. Prior to the installation of this Bryant outlet, we were having all sorts of charging problems where the amperage of our Tesla Mobile charger was greatly reduced or would stop charging all together - usually during triple digit summer heat. We have never had any charging issues after I installed this one. Great value, great product.

It works, for a reasonable expense
When sliding a new range into place resulted in a bright flash of light and the telltale aroma of burned electrical wires, I discovered the electrician who installed the original outlet failed to adequately secure one wire and the result was a combination of melted metal and plastic. It’s amazing how much research I did before purchase, but given the significant current, it seemed warranted. This was well constructed and secured the wires with a clamshell technique - no simple screw squishing wires. While the original outlet was warm to the touch, this has no apparent heat buildup. The outlet holds the plug securely and a new cover installed easily around its standard diameter body. Costing much less than the “premium” brand that uses similar clamshell wire securing technology, this was a great purchase. It has fed electricity to my range for several months now and a handheld thermometer gun indicates it continues to not exhibit any increased temperature compared to the surrounding Sheetrock - the electrical connection it provides is secure. While I installed this myself, anyone who lacks electrical wiring experience might want to consider a licensed professional, the current that flows through it commands extreme respect.

It's better than cheap but not as good as regular Hubbel
As mentioned in the title, it's good quality with better materials than regular chap ones. I was expecting it to be similar to Hubble's commercial model which is copper and brass made connectors, screws etc. I was also expecting the screws to be Allen wrench compatible instead of normal Phillips type screws. Hubble has an Allen wrench type screw which makes it easier to tighten. I saw an earlier version of this used to have connectors in aluminum and screws were also similar to Hubble's Allen wrench but I got the one with Phillips screws so I wasn't satisfied with that. The good part of it is the part that tightens the wire using a screw is similar to Hubbel which holds wire from all sides and gets highest contact to wire and also less chances to get loose. That's a positive point and I am setting my rating to 4 instead of 3 stars. As of now I am not returning it as I have already fitted it but Bryant should at least keep the Allen wrench style screws in this. The price also increased after COVID due to very high demand and I was not expecting it from Hubble/Bryant ...

GREAT 14-50 Outlet for an EV!
This Hubbell 14-50 receptacle model RR450F is a Great affordable outlet to use to charge an EV! I use it to charge my 2022 Hyundai Tucson Plug-In Hybrid PHEV SUV. It flows 32 amperes, 7.65 kw, for 1 hour and 50 min through my ChargePoint Home Flex charger to fully charge the 13.8 kwh battery. At the end of the charge, the charging cable and plug is ever so slightly warm. Furthermore, when I unplug the plug the blades are also ever so slightly warm too! I heeded the warning from other reviewers who used the $11 Leviton 14-50 receptacle sold at Home Depot who said that after the charge their charging cord and plug felt overheated and the plug blades were too hot to touch. This Hubbell Trade Select 14-50 receptacle is physically deep (you will need a 2 inch deep box), has full width blades to contact the charger plug blades, and uses clamps when you screw it down to sandwich/connect the AWG #6 stranded copper wires I used. It needs a cover plate with a 2.15 inch opening, widely available. The ChargePoint plug stays plugged in all the time. It does a GREAT job for $13.99 and is far cheaper than the Hubbell 9450A (which a lot of reviewers recommend) receptacle at a cost of $141!!!

High quality for the price
I’ve been using this receptacle to charge a 2024 jeep wrangler for two weeks with no issues. It charges in 2 and 1/2 hours on a 32A charger and barely gets warm. I plug it in and out once a day so we will see how long it lasts. So far so good. I can buy three of these for less than one of the HD Hubbles. If it lasts half as long as one of those it will be more than worth it.

Durable and affordable
This is a well made nema 14-50 receptacle. It was very easy to install and functions really well but don't made the mistake I made . I bought this plug as an outlet for my EV which is not what this is made for because it can't handle plugging and unplugging regularly . It's meant for mainly range stoves and dryers which are plugged at all times . If you leave your EV charger at all times it works just fine which is what I do and haven't had any problems so far . But if you want to be on the safe side please buy the Hubble 94R which runs about $50 but can handle plugging in and out with ease . This is good if you leave your EVSE plugged at all times and use superchargers when travelling

The lower priced Hubbell 14-50 receptacle is outstanding
The lower priced Hubbell 14-50 receptacle has the same "vice" type wire securing apparatus as the gold standard expensive industrial Hubbell/Bryant outlet, instead of everyone else's "bolt screwed into the wire" securing method. The size is the smaller than the industrial version, but that is good in my situation as my exterior car charging water-resistant "Midwest" box from Home Depot is only designed for the smaller receptacle. I ditched the Leviton receptacle that came with the Midwest box and replaced it with the Hubble. No regrets. Another quality product from a quality manufacturer.
