Oh. My God..!
If you're reading this, you're probably already 75% the way towards buying this sub. Short version: Do you NEED this Sub with an Arc soundbar? Not really. Will you be utterly delighted that you bought it? Yes, 100%, mark my words. If, like me, you're interested as you want to complement your (already very expensive) Sonos Arc Soundbar, and you want to know if this sub is worth the investment - read on. I purchased, upon recommendation from Richer Sounds, a Sonos Amp, a massive B&Wilkins Sub and some C. Audio Min 22 surrounds for my home TV. Not a cheap setup. I watch TV/Films 80% the time, listen to music on it the rest. I dug deep on the above kit, wired it all up and fired up the TV with much anticipation - but it was shortlived... The system completely lacked midrange and balance, the sub delivered ground shaking bass but seemed to pick out the wrong notes from the movie, sounding almost umpleasant (sorry, but that's the best way I can describe the disjointed feel). The surrounds were OK, but overall the system was just not worth the money, and frankly by Bose Soundtouch in my kitchen delivered a richer, fuller sound. I packed it all back up, and sent it all back under the cooling off period, scoured the Internet, and plumped for a Sonos Arc, as it seems to be the best for movies/TV, and this Sub to back it up. Let me say this - the Arc Soundbar delivers really great sound, really great, there's a genuinely good level of bass and clarity already, and many people will be very happy with that on its own. I treated myself to the sub as well after MUCH deliberation.... and Good Lord - what an addition it is!! The balance, together with the Arc, is just delicious. The Arc delivers a gorgeous, full, rounded sound, clear dialog and music sounds good. I purposely tried it for a few hours without the Sub. Bass is good, but not a panty dropper. Enter the Gen 3 Sub, easy to set up with the Sonos app, tucked in the corner of the room, I tried it first with some tunes through Spotify, and HOLY HELL, the difference is astonishing!! The bass is controlled, not wobbly, doesn't wash out the mids/highs, but rather complements them. Delivery is effortless. I turned the Sub level down on the app to -7 (Default 0, with a range -12 to +12) to achieve the balance I wanted, but honestly I was laughing out loud at the power of the delivery! The additional drive is meaty, delicious, competent and professional. The unit looks a million dollars to boot, can stand against a wall or even lie flat - very useful. Wireless setup is a breeze and the wow factor is immediate. I've already forgotten how much I paid for this Sub, so uplifting is its effect. If you're on the fence, but think you'll enjoy a full, top to bottom sound with nothing left wanting, then spend your hard earned on this Sub. You won't regret it, I don't.

Wow! Just wow!
I already have a Sonos Beam Gen 2, always with the intention of adding to the set up over time. The Beam on its own is amazing, and makes such a huge improvement over the in built TV speaker. So, like many reviewers here, I ummed and ahhhhd about what Sonos product to add next - a Sub, or a couple of One’s for surround. I eventually opted for the Sub, and wow, I’m so glad I did. Similar to the Beam, the Sub arrives in quality packaging, and is an absolute breeze to set up and pair with the Beam. I really can’t emphasise enough, how much of a difference the Sub makes. There’s probably a more technical description among audio experts, but it’s like the Beam has been set free to breathe, with the sound quality even better than before. And the bass - goodness me. Just incredible. The Sub adds a whole new dimension to TV/film audio, and of course to music as well. The dimensions of the Sub are listed on the website, but for a visual reference, mine sits under an IKEA Lack coffee table, as in the pic. It fits perfectly. So in short, if you’re thinking about adding this Sub, perhaps not sure whether to go for the Sub or for rears for surround, or wincing at the cost - sell your Mother In Law if you have to. Get the Sub. It’s incredible. Amazing performance from the Sub itself, integrates seamlessly with other suitable Sonos products, and I also happen to think the design is just gorgeous. Don’t ummmm or ahhhhhh - just buy it.

You need Gen-3 (vs. mini) for anything above 20 sqm
My dining room is 24 sq m (6X4) and was split between Sub mini vs Gen3, but am glad I got this. I read reviews that you don't need to adjust the bass settings, but for my room size I had to push it up to +5 to get noticable base. Now the standard review- of course the build quality is impeccable, the sound quality is superb and ease of connection is unparallel (takes 3 clicks on the Sonos app). Once connected you can easily adjust settings on the app. The only negative is if you are an android owner, you can't use their room setup feature, which is very exclusionary of Sonos. Tip: you should try both horizontal and vertical setup.

Just do it, I did and don’t regret a thing
Hesitated on this purchase for a while, but eventually decided I wanted to make the upgrade from my old sound bar system and do not regret a thing. I already had several Sonos products around the house so was very familiar with the ecosystem and used it daily. The addition of the Arc, Sub and another One SL to create a surround sound in the living room has completely transformed the audio capabilities in the room. After TruePlay tuning and making some preference changes (upped the base, increased the audio output from the surrounds, changed from partial to full) I’ve got a system that genuinely plays music as well as Atmos films, which is what I wanted. The only drawback I have is that for some reason when playing Spotify via Apple TV 4K the audio is massively better quality than when playing via Spotify Connect or Sonos App. Which means to get the full rich audio I also need my TV turned on using the eARC function. If Sonos found a way to sort this out I would be really happy, as AirPlay 2 also has the same sort of issue. To be clear, the audio quality is more than good enough using these methods, but it’s not as good as via Apple TV 4K for some reason. Since the Sub Mini has been released I still would have chosen the Sub Gen 3 to pair the Arc, as they are both the top range option from Sonos at the time of purchase.

Just Get It!
Like many on here, I really held off purchasing this sub for months. I started of with the Beam and loved it, the sound was amazing and just a perfect size for my second smaller lounge. It made me think about how good the surround feature would be so I bought a pair of Sonos One's second hand and was blown away with how great the combined set up was. I kept on trying to convince myself that the Sub was not necessary and that what I had was enough - but I had a niggle that I needed the Sub, it was like an itch that didn't go away - anyway I finally got this and within five minutes of setting it up and demoing a movie, I was convinced. It is unlike any other sub I have heard, its not brash and coarse with huge bass in every scene, it's far more unassuming, it just links all the speakers perfectly with the exact right amount of rumble and low tones. I have it positioned behind my main sofa opposite the TV and this works best for me, delivery the missing piece to my Sonos jigsaw and now providing an incredible combined sound that I smile at every time in a movie it kicks in. It is expensive, but if you can afford it then getting it will, like me, make that itch go away!

Let's Get Ready To Rumble!
So here's the thing. I've had a Sonos Playbar with a couple of Play 3's as rear surrounds for quite a few years and absolutely loved the sound I can get from movies, TV and music. I'd no idea how much I'd been missing without the Sonos SUB! The sound is phenomenal and what a difference in the Playbar when it's not having to work on being a SUB too! I've had to tone it down a bit to avoid upsetting the neighbours! Quite subtle at times but powerful and dynamic for action movies. If you've got the setup I had, or even the newer Arc and Eras as surrounds YOU NEED THIS SUBWOOFER!

Great sub but....
Sonos make a great sub, I have a Gen2 installed in a system with a Playbar, I bought a second to work with my Arc on a gaming system. However I currently have a sub I can't actually use because Sonos have upgraded their app and refuse to let you use the current version of the app without upgrading, so why don't I just upgrade? I'd love to, but Sonos have neglected to load the latest version of the app to the Playstore. The problem with Sonos is that they make great products, but their software is largely junk, they just don't think stuff through properly, I do NOT need to upgrade my app just to add another product to the system but they're most insistent, I'm sure at some point the muppets will upgrade the app in the Playstore, but meanwhile I have a £670 door stop! UPDATE! So the answer was the only way to update the Sonos app was to go through the Manage apps section for some reason the page for the Sonos app in the Playstore had not been updated. So the sub is now installed with the Arc, there was an initial blip adding it to the system, but it is now connected and functioning correctly. One of the challenges that faces the Sonos products connecting via wifi is that it's very reliant on the networking capabilities of your router / or wifi extender. There's loads of connectivity stuff going on there that we know nothing about - so any networking issues you have MAY affect your Sonos connectivity. I've found all my systems pretty stable, although switching routers and using a new SSID was a bit of an effort, but I did get there in the end.

I bought this to augment my Sonos beam and I am pleased with the result
I am not a hifi buff but I like listening to music. I bought a beam and connected it to my telly. I felt there was something missing sound wise and thought sod it I might as well splash out on the sub as well as a birthday present to myself. It is ridiculously expensive but if you see it as a boy’s toy then it’s affordable compared to a high end camera or phone. I am pleased with the result. It connected to the beam fine and works with my google home and Spotify apps. It sounds really good. I bought the latest gen 3 sub. It shipped with the wrong power cord but Sonos support quickly sent me the correct one after I complained. You also have install the new Sonos app to use it.
