BergHOFF Seren Side Loading Toaster with Cool Touch Exterior and Removable Crumb Tray with Silver Front Panel use as Serving Tray

I’m not into writing many reviews, but I have to for this toaster. I’ve been toaster shopping for awhile now, looking for one that can actually accommodate artisan bread and more importantly bagels. With my current toaster I had to cut bagels into 3 slices so they would fit. I’ve read countless reviews and was hesitant at first. Let me tell you something: THIS TOASTER IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Bagels, artisan bread, croissants, kolaches… no problem. I don’t know why some reviews state that it does not brown their toast? Set it on 6 and if it’s not dark enough, just push the button again! It’s that easy! We even made quesadillas in it. I did line the slide out tray with some aluminum foil, just to ease clean up. The tray is washable! I’m blown away. When checking out there was a “used, very good condition” for just under$40. When it arrived it was obvious that it was NOT USED. It had the paper liners still attached! What a steal! It is a little longer than my old toaster, but it is also narrower. We got the silver cover with it. If you are considering this toaster, I’m sure you won’t regret it. The versatility it offers is unmatched. Some reviews you have to take with a grain of salt. My thinking was “if I don’t like I’ll just send it back”. No money lost!

This toaster just doesn't work. The loading on the side is not user friendly at all. I returned it because it's not functional and the color is off.

We've had the toaster for nearly a year now and are very happy with it. It is easy to load and remove small pieces of French bread which would get stuck in normal toasters. And emptying the crumbs from the bottom couldn't be easier. I would definitely buy it again.

I like this design, it's so easy to clean. I was so frustrating to try to clean a toaster because you could never get it completely clean by just dumping the crumbs out. This solves that problem. The ONLY problem with it is it IS a burn risk. You have to be careful getting the toast out or you will get burned. The thing that clamps together onto the toast is a bit tight too. And the pull-out tray does get water inside of it when you wash it, so that needs to be revisited. But overall I love how clean and sanitary this is, it's the ONLY one of it's kind I've been able to find.

The Seren side-loading toaster has eliminated the crumby mess off our countertop. Yay. It's such an improvement over our regular top-loading toaster. Yay again. It accommodates a wide variety of bread sizes including bagels, home-sliced bread, and English muffins...Its temperature controls make it versatile and useful to warm up and defrost baked goods. We're really happy with this new toaster.

I bought this BerHOFF toaster because slices of my homemade Italian bread are small and hard to get out of a regular toaster. This BergHOFF toaster has a tray that you remove from the end of the toaster, and there is a wire rack in the tray that grabs and holds the slices of bread, so my small slices of bread do go in and out easily. But inside the toaster, there is just one heating element on each side, and my small pieces of bread were below the heating elements, so even after toasting them on the highest setting twice, they never really toasted. Furthermore, both ends of the toaster are open--you can look right through the toaster from one end to the other, even when the toaster is in use--so it doesn't seem to me that the design is very efficient at capturing heat. Finally, even though the description of the toaster says you can heat croissants in it, it looks to me like the wire rack inside the tray that grabs the bread and holds it in place, would crush something as delicate as a croissant. There are no pictures demonstrating how to toast a croissant without crushing it between the sides of this wire rack. I will be returning this toaster today.

A truly terrible toaster. If you are expecting bread to become toast, don't bother with this thing. Plus, it makes a horrible, perpetual screeching "beep" when it has completed its cycle. I have pulled my old toaster out of the trash to replace this replacement.

Didn’t toast bread evenly and was not the quality I was expecting for the price. Even at a high setting we had to cycle twice and watch carefully to not burn.

My elderly mother brought this, as its easier for her to load from the side. It comes with a two pin American plug so you have to buy adapter. We turned it on (on setting 3)as it suggests in the instructions to get rid of the smell of the plastic. It was a good job I tried it instead of my mum, as the unit became so hot it started to melt the outer casing and the plastic rack inside. At which point I unplugged it and took it outside rather quickly. Something I know my mum or any elderly person would struggle with. The out come could have been a whole lot worst. So my advice on this item. BE SAFE, DON'T BUY IT!!

It did not work. Faulty electrics.

Could not use it as it was not able to plug it in . It was a USA moulded plug not suitable for the UK.
