The Action Bible: God's Redemptive Story

I picked up The Action Bible: God’s Redemptive Story recently, and it’s pretty cool. It’s illustrated by Sergio Carriello and has this vivid, graphic-novel-meets-Sunday-school energy. In some ways, it even channels Preacher. Not in the profanity or theological chaos (there’s a lot less swearing, obviously), but in the sheer visual punch of it. The stories move, the artwork hits hard, and it feels like something is always happening. It’s full of action, as the name promises. Honestly, it makes the Bible far more engaging than the ones you find in hotel drawers or handed out at school. You read this version and think, yes, this is how you should learn the Bible. Not as dry scripture, but as a fast-moving, cinematic origin story. I’ve read it cover to cover. No Jesse Custer in sight. Maybe that’s part two. Actually, it is part two. That’s what Preacher is. The unofficial sequel nobody asked for but somehow needed. If anything, The Action Bible works as the perfect partner to Preacher. One is the sacred origin, the other the wild, twisted response. Put them together and you get something pretty unforgettable.

This is The Bible! Everything from Genesis to Revelation! It’s taken me several months to find this graphic novel, simply because nowhere does it actually say (in the blurb or in reviews) that it is a really comprehensive pictorial representation of The Holy Bible, which is exactly what I was looking for! Prior to obtaining this, my journey took me through Illustrated Bibles - returned- The Lion Graphic Bible - which was what I was looking for, but lacking - and eventually this one! This Graphic Bible has far more relevant details, the drawings are really gripping and stylish and easy to follow. This is the reason for my desire for a Graphic Bible. My sister is Autistic and cannot read or write, however she loves Jesus and knows all of the traditional Bible Stories that “everyone” thinks that children need to know, but hardly any of the other stories of the Bible. This Bible covers ALL of the Bible Stories (including the misunderstood potential sacrifice of Isaac) and the Exodus story (with golden calf as well as the Ten Commandments) and Moses’ glowing face! This is an impressive Bible, which is supplemented with The Action Bible audio book, which I will also purchase, so that my sister can go through this Bible and follow the stories whenever she wanted to, without having to rely on me! I would say that this is an ideal Bible for parents with children whom that wish to be conversant with all of the Bible in an accessible way. Also for children and adults with Neurodivergent Special Needs and, of course, Teens and Young Adults who love graphic novels (which is probably the target audience and why it’s called an Action Bible). I can see myself gifting this Bible, more so than any other Graphic Bible - this is the best out there!

Wow. The effort and care put into the production of this beautifully stunning book is outstanding. Kudos to the creators. If you find reading the Bible a bit convoluted and disjointed (I mean no offence here, the Bible is a beautiful book with amazing stories, it's just sometimes the brain struggles to identify things as too much detail can be confusing,), then this book will serve as the perfect accompaniment. It features the key events of the Holy Bible - from the Creation to Revelation and will surely be a book you will treasure your whole life. It's not for kids, it's for everyone. One of the best purchases I have ever made.

I found this so easy to follow! It's really difficult to understand the bible considering there's so many names and events going on not to mention the time period there are so many details it can get confusing. If you find hard to follow all along the storyline not knowing what's going on with people and events this book actually illustrates all the main bits and uses snippets of biblical scriptures for a dynamic read. I would definitely suggest this book for new Christians and readers who are keen to understand the bible but are finding it overwhelmingly difficult to follow. It won't have EVERY scene but main events and most of the focal point that you should know when it comes to where the story is going. Keep in mind there is dialogue that is obviously the authors interpretation of what would be said by the characters (Which seem very believable even though could not find them in the bible) if that matters to you. Just make sure you have a discerning mind. Just an amazing book and also if you look at the images they really work well to detail things you may have overlooked. The writer also explains snippet details of which event he is illustrating and actually even helps to iron out time periods ocassionally. Basically it's an informative book in surprising ways. I'm an illustrator graduate myself so I definitely say this is really amazing level stuff the illustrator invested a lot of time into this!! This is absolutely a solid investment for the easily confused Christian.

Bought as a present and the recipient loves it, illustration and narratives are amazing. Looking Beautiful.

Wow this book is incredible. The cartoon illustrations are very thoughtful and complex. The creators are very talented and have produced illustrations which would suit an adult audience but also be extremely stimulating and exciting for teenagers and young adults. The book is quite thick and tells many of the important stories from the Bible. I would absolutely recommend this.
