Great Karategi - sizing is weird
First, this is a great Gi. The material is plenty heavy. I get that nice "snap" that makes it sound like I'm better at my art than I really am. Overall I'm happy with this and would buy it again. Sizing: I'm 6'1", 225lbs, athletic build. According to the sizing chart I need a 6.5. The trousers are humongous in the waist. I could almost fit two of me in there. Even when I cinch the drawstring up it's difficult to get tight because there's so much extra material in the waist that it bunches up a lot. I can get it, it just would prefer it to be much less wide. The length is OK. They go all the way to the floor. I don't like my trouser legs that long so I just roll them up and because the material is so thick they just stay like that. The jacket is a little trickier. The shoulder width is perfect. The seams where the sleeves are stitched to the body are just past my shoulders by about 1-inch. The length is a bit longer than I'd like though. The ties are below my waist by an inch or so, which causes the jacket to want to hike up a bit if I tie them too tight. The body rather loose as well. When sitting or stretching or anything other than working Kata really I feel like I could shrug my shoulders up and disappear into it like Roderigo from Babes in Toyland. The sleeves go to my wrists. Again, longer than I like so I roll them up a few turns and they stay put. I contacted Kamikaze and they said this is supposed to be a longer, looser Gi, so what I described above is what they expected. I considered exchanging it for a 6, but what is interesting to me is my Sensei is 5'9, 220lbs. He has this same Gi in a 6 and it fits him perfectly. So, instead of exchanging it I decided I'd just wash & dry it to try and shrink it some. it has a bit, but not a whole lot. Overall I like this Gi a lot and would definitely purchase it again. However, rather than buying it as a set I would probably order the jacket & trousers separately so I could get a much smaller trouser size.

Great Gi!!
First, english is not my language, so i try my best to make some sense in this review. Ok, here we go, i really recommed this uniform for the ones who are looking for his "first serious gi", or the advance people who wants a everyday training uniform, why? It's simple!, the america has the basic features for what i consider an "advance" uniform, it's durable, has a solid snap effect, the price its great (that's my favourite), and the traditional cut it's fine, but you have choose the size carefully, because it depend how you want to look like? i mean, if you want to look like the guy from the picture choose the lowest size recomended by the sizing chart, for example, i am a 5' 6" tall, with a "normal" body structure, the sizing chart says that a #4.5 it's fine for me, and it's true!, but the uniform is a bit bigger than i expected (nothing serious), but in terms of proportions, i would choose a #4 to look exactly as the picture guy. But if you still have doubts, you can contact the seller, they have a great custome service. Overall the america is great for kata, but a little bit stiff for sparring, if you like to wear it in competiton, it's ok, but kamikaze has better options for tournaments, like the kamikaze monarch.

best gi for the money? shureido, ki mugen or kamikaze america?
the gi for my kid arrived from spain in the same time it took the book i ordered (with amazon prime) at the same to arrive at my house. i initially thought something was wrong with the tracking info, but it actually got here an hour before the book. communication with seller was excellent and they were able to customize my order (different size jacket and pants) without any problems. no sizing issues for me, i just went by the chart and fit as expected. comparing it with the ki mugen black label, the fabric of the mugen is softer to touch, and the mugen a slightly brighter white (neither quality can be accurately captured in a picture). stitching is better on the kamikaze by a bit. cut seems to be comparable. given that the price for both is almost the same, i would say that you should buy the mugen if you prefer a softer fabric, but that the better quality (though not by much) of the kamikaze would make me chose the latter. compared with my shureido tk10, the kamikaze shows it's roots. the cut is the same. more surprising (for me) is that the feel of the fabric is very close. eyes closed, i could not tell which was which. they both have a slight firmness (compared with the softer mugen black), even though my shureido is over 4 years old and the kamikaze has only been washed once. time will tell if the kamikaze holds up as well. so, my opinion is that the kamikaze america seems to be the best gi for the money, giving you the shureido feel for much less cost. the shureido is my favorite gi, but now i am not sure if is worth double the price of the kamikaze (probably not, if you are practical) just to get the shureido label. this makes me really curious to find out more about the kamikaze monarch, whose price is closer to the shureido.

Good quality but too tight in shoulders.
The shipping was super quick. The quality is very good. However, the cut was a little strange. It was very tight in the shoulders and widened up at the bottom. Was a little snug in the shoulder area for my husband even though we ordered a large size. Quality is very nice and heavy.

Fantastic Gi
I originally ordered the wrong size. I contacted the seller and he directed me to a size 5.5. For reference, I'm 5'5" and 220 lbs size 14/16 in women's plus size clothes. The fit was perfect. The arm and leg length were so perfect I don't need to get any alterations. The moderate weight of the cotton is comfortable and the cut makes it easy to move in. I will definitely be recommending this to my martial arts buddies.

Great Karategi
The jacket is somewhat longer than I expected but it's not a big deal. The cotton quality is great and the sound it produce is awesome. I love it!

This is my 5th Kaiten/Kamikaze America gi and I have tried several other and never liked them as much. It is a wider Japanese cut gi for the European and US body type. It is perfect!! I am 177cm tall with 122cm (48") chest and I go for a half size up at 185 and the fit is perfect even after 5-6 years of training and teaching in it. Although it is 14oz it is so smooth and we'll finished it feels lighter. Shrinkage is minimal even though I tumble dry it (I live in a flat and it would take too long to dry naturally). Even after years of abuse the fit does not change a great deal and what 'kills' them is usually sweat discolouration of the collar and lining of the shoulders, as well as small holes wearing into the creases of the arms and legs (probably a result of the tumble drying). The only gi that is making look elsewhere is the Kamikaze Mushin as a lightweight summer training gi. That doesn't look like the wider fit so I would likely go for a 190 as I do for my Jujitsu and Kenjutsu gi's.
