Works great and easy to use!
This is a great product, easy to use, and lasts a long time. We have a 42” deep above ground and just followed a YouTube video I found. Packaging was excellent and comes with 6, 1 lb bags inside a larger bag. We opened the 1 lb bag and while using a glove pour coin dollar size amounts in the palm of my hand toss into the pool, do this 10 times while walking around the pool. Use your skimmer to give it a final mix. We follow with the arm and hammer clear blue tablet in the pump basket, and 1 chlorinating puck in the puck float. We do the shock and clear blue tablet together each time, and the chlorine puck as needed. The first time around our levels were good after shocking twice bc the chlorine levels were not high enough. If you do not want to add shock to increase chlorine, you can buy other products, or just straight bleach. Ive seen negative reviews on this product due to it not breaking up algae.... I did research on this and this product will not break up algae forming on your pool. If you get algae starting to grow at the bottom you will need to scrub first, or get creative and glide your feet along the bottom and sides to break this up. Then you can shock the algae. Should see results in as little as 24 hours! Make sure you test your water and adjust as needed. Test strips are easy to use. Hope this helps. If you did find this helpful please hit helpful below. This is an honest review from an Amazon customer! Thank you.

Powerful Shock, But Messy to Handle
Powerful Shock, But Messy to Handle I’ve used a lot of pool chemicals over the years, and this HTH Super Shock definitely packs a punch. A single bag clears up cloudy or green water quickly and leaves the pool sparkling clean within a day. It works exactly as intended—fast and effective at raising chlorine levels when the pool needs a reset. That said, there are some things to keep in mind. The packets tend to be a bit messy to open, and if you’re not careful you’ll end up with powder on your hands or deck. I’ve also noticed that it can leave a slight residue on the bottom if it’s not stirred in well, so I make sure to pour it slowly around the perimeter and brush afterward. It’s also pretty strong stuff—handle with gloves and don’t stand over it when opening, because the chlorine fumes are sharp. Overall, it’s an essential pool care product if you want reliable shock treatment without having to measure out from a big bucket. The convenience of the pre-measured bags is great, though storage and handling could be cleaner. Bottom line: Effective and convenient shock treatment that keeps my pool clear, but be prepared for some handling mess and strong chlorine fumes.

GREAT PRODUCT
I usually try to purchase products on Amazon with a high review. I saw the review on this product and couldn't believe it , nothing gets a 5. Anyway I purchased it and found out why, best pool shock I have ever used. We had Black Algea spores popping up after about 6 straight days of rain and I usually shock the pool then the next day use a steel brush to get them loose. Well I shocked the pool and 4 hours later went back to scrape the algea off. I couldn't believe this product not only loosend them they were gone , 100% gone. The water was much clearer and blue. Well worth the money. Great great product.

Better value for the results
I have experimented with various types and brands of shock for my pool and this one provides the most value for the money. I've tried the large buckets of shock that have 73% Cal Hypo (the active ingredient in sanitizing your pool). They are very heavy (50%) and I always used more than necessary with the scoop. I've also tried other bags of shock with 68% Cal Hypo. Oddly, they were rated to treat 10,000 gallons per bag. These bags contain 56.44% Cal Hypo and are rated to treat 13,500 gallons. I have found them to be just as effective as the more expensive bags. I have a 15,000 gallon pool and only use 1 pack about every 4 days depending on pool usage. That's the same rate I used with others without getting any algae buildup. One more tip: I found the effectiveness improved when I started mixing the shock in a bucket of water first. They tell you to do that to protect the liner but I've also found in roughly similar conditions that the Free Chlorine lasted longer when I pre-mixed it.

Used to work. Now it stains the pool. Everytime.
I used to use this product often. I had a recurring subscription through Amazon. One time I used it and later noticed a HUGE stain in my pool shortly after. I didn't know the stain was a reaction from this product immediately. I balanced my pool, bought stain removal (spending spending spending), followed all instructions to the T. EVENTUALLY, I got the stain to go away after a lot of time, money, effort, and frustration. So fast fwd. Next time I had to shock my pool, WITHIN MINUTES, it stain my pool again. But not just in that spot, literally in every spot the product touched the floor of my inground pool. I sprinkle it SO lightly, I literally walk around the pool like 3 or 4 times and salt and pepper it in just to try and prevent it from accumulating anywhere on the bottom of the pool. Alas, it does not matter. So I cancelled my subscription after having used this product for years. My feeling is that with the rise in costs on chlorine tablets, HTC seems to have taken the low road and changed the ingredients comprising their product. Nevertheless as a consumer, I will waste no more time or money on it. I will keep my pool balanced and stain free using other brands and products.
