Conquer Series: The Battle Plan For Purity (Study Guide Volume 2) Review: The book came in the indicated time. - This is a known product to me and it is the best or one of the best in helping men overcome the use of pornography. Review: Success comes when you expose your sin to light! - I've been through this study a couple of times. I admit it was helpful in my battle to overcome pornography use. However, there are better resources available. The book comes in two volumes. I believe it's essential to complete both books. They also sell a separate video series, which is important to the study. I'll discuss both of those in more detail later. The study is a great tool to help you focus on the root cause of porn use, some physical and some emotional. The lessons are grounded in scripture. It took some time to understand some of the concepts, and others just didn't apply. In all, my group of men found it helpful in our process. NOTE: The videos are critical unless you have a gifted leader trained in addiction. I also believe 100% that you cannot and should not attempt to overcome this problem on your own. You must bring your sin to light, trust God, and lean on other men for support and accountability. If you continue hiding your sin and trying to overcome it alone, you will fail. WHAT I DON'T LIKE The Conquer Series is split into two volumes, which is a blatant money grab. Both books are around 80 pages long, and at least 15 of those pages are duplicated. A typical paperback or study book is over 200 pages long. For example, Experiencing God is 272 pages long, and it's much bigger in size. The author could - and should - combine these two volumes into one book and sell it for $15 or less. The Conquer Series has a set of companion videos that are important to understanding the material, but they are sold separately and for a subscription! They originally sold as a DVD set. Churches could buy once and use over and over again. Now they are digital, and you have to pay a monthly subscription for access. $39 a month for ten videos, and you lose access if you stop paying. $30 for both books, $15 for the leader's guide, and $39 a month for the videos. If a church ran this series three times a year for just ten men, it would cost around $1,500. If your "ministry" is to help men stop using porn, why not make it affordable? I understand they should be compensated for their work, but these ridiculous prices create a barrier for those seeking help.
