Source: PurchaseMy Rating: 4/5 starsMy Review:Cade MacKenzie is hardened, cold, calculating and, since the death of his lover, hell bent on one thing, revenge. While Cade’s lover may not have been the most innocent of humans, she was ultimately a good woman and determined to help Cade take down her father, a man who leads one of the world’s most dangerous cartels. Life in a cartel is hard and full of suspicion and back stabbing and in one vicious moment, everything was taken from Cade. That night is etched in Cade’s memory and for two long years he has waited for the time to be right to make his move. Coming out of the shadows seems to be the only way Cade can get the attention of the del Fuego cartel and so with the protests of his bosses and the DEA and his brothers ringing in his ears, Cade has stepped out into the light. With the absolute intention of bringing down the men who took his lover and ruined his case, Cade moves into his new house in Texas and sets to work drawing out the cartel But first, he has to deal with an incredibly sexy and incredibly pissed off new neighbor.Bayleigh Scott is one pissed off woman! It is the butt crack of dawn and three a**holes are ruining her sleep by unloading a large and very loud moving van. Not one to every shy away from confrontation – you really can’t when you have all brothers – Bayleigh hauls her butt out of bed and in nothing but her skimpy little pjs heads out to set the new neighbor straight. What Bayleigh is confronted with is three muscled walls of men that may make her quake a bit on the inside but certainly not on the outside. Except that one . . . .From the moment Cade and Bayleigh lay eyes on one another, the game is on. Bayleigh is selective about her men and not really looking to get involved with the new guy next door. He is some kind of hot and has upped the level of brooding to new heights but that doesn’t mean Bayleigh is inviting him into her life. Cade rarely ever turns down a hot woman and one with attitude to spare and no fear of him and his brothers is hard to turn away. But, Cade has a job to do and getting close to Bayleigh would only endanger her and cause Cade a level of pain he is not willing to open himself up to. Cade and Bayleigh’s plan to avoid one another would be absolutely brilliant if they weren’t so damn attracted to and interested in the other. Before long, Cade becomes a constant presence in Bayleigh’s life and though she tries to act perturbed it is hard to resist a hot man with a badge Resistance becomes absolutely futile when both finally decide to give into their mutual attraction and christen Cade’s garage and dining room table. Man is that one hot moment. For a time things seem to be moving along at an acceptable rate. Bayleigh and Cade are both satisfying one another sexually and neither has made any promises to the other. Through the course of his investigations, Cade has begun to see some warning signs that the cartel may be gearing up to make a move. Though he tells himself he doesn’t care and will absolutely be able to walk away from Bayleigh when the investigation and the cartel is shut down, the thought of her being harmed makes Cade itch. Of course, the cartel has absolutely nothing but malice in mind and taking yet another lover from Cade would just be icing on the cake. The Bottom Line: Cade is the first full-length MacKenzie family novel and it is worth the wait. Cade’s hardness and coldness make him all the hotter but it is his interactions with Bayleigh that take him to surface of the sun hot. Beneath all of the coldness and reserved attitude is a man who truly cares and is 100% loyal to those he calls his own. Bayleigh is just one little bit of awesome after the next and ultimately becomes the perfect partner for Cade. From the moment she makes her presence known, she challenges and delights Cade and helps him begin to truly come out of the darkness he has been living in for so long. The drama that unfolds with the cartel is just about perfect for this read and doesn’t ever overshadow the romance just as the romance doesn’t ever really overshadow the drama. In all, a steamy and entertaining read that is easy to get thorough as well as being a welcome addition to the MacKenzie family series.

3.5 stars, rounded up
Very brief synopsis - Cade is an almost ex-DEA agent, posing as a Dallas Vice cop for one last mission. He is determined to take down the cartel who killed his lover. (This is not a spoiler - it is on the first page) He moves in next door to Bayleigh, who owns a high end lingerie shop. One of her brothers is a SEAL (who served with Cade). The other brother is a DHS agent who happened to go to college with Cade. *sigh* That's a lot of coincidence to swallow. Anyway, Cade and Bayleigh get off to a rocky start, but quickly succumb to the massive chemistry they feel for each other. Bayleigh become a target, and Cade is determined to keep her safe. What worked for me - I liked Bayleigh. She is not a pushover, and can dish it up quick when she needs to. She is independent and happy in her little sphere of the world. She is attracted to Cade, but isn't sure she can handle his "sex-only" terms.I felt for Cade. The situation leading up to him losing his lover was brutal. He is unwilling to open himself up to that kind of pain again. He is pretty determined, though, that Bayleigh share his bed for the duration of his mission. He's a good man, and Bayleigh gets to him, in spite of himself. We meet a couple of Cade's brothers. Declan is intriguing, as is the situation with Bayleigh's brother, Brant, and Cade's sister, Darcy. The writing was tight, and moved quickly and cohesively. There were comedic moments. The heat level is high between Bayleigh and Cade. What didn't work as well - This is a SHORT book, with a lot of stuff happening very quickly. The length did not allow for a lot of growth. Bayleigh did something incredibly stupid. Other than that...no real complaintsWhat was really weird - Bayleigh kept fainting, or falling asleep immediately after she and Cade...you know. Is that a thing? I didn't know that was a thing. Frankly, I found it distracting. Could just be me *shrug*Bottom line - If you like an erotic romantic suspense, this is not a bad choice. I am kind of on the fence as to whether I will pursue the series. Like I said, Declan is intriguing...

This is book one in the MacKenzie Security Novel! (previously published as Cade)
This is book one in the MacKenzie Security Novel! (previously published as Cade)Meet the ever broody Cade MacKenzie. Cade is always prepared to give his life to destroy the most evil cartel that killed his lover, Cade believes the only way to draw out the cartel is to present them with the most and beautiful perfect bait.Meet the ever argumentative and strong willed Bayleigh Scott. Bayleigh has not the slightest idea who her new neighbor is. The only that Bayleigh knows is that her body is drawn to him in ways she has no explanation. As for the danger that surrounds Cade isn’t the most easy deterrent Bayleigh knows it should be.Hell of a lot more than fireworks explodes between both Cade and Bayleigh. Only when Bayleigh discovers the real reason that Cade relentlessly pursued her sadly by then it’s far too late. It's too late because Bayleigh’s already been drawn into the most deadly game of desire, dirty deception and most of all revenge. Can Cade and Bayleigh work out their differences?Liliana Hart's books are so amazing, i love it how she writes 5* books

... normally write a review on a book that is terrible but on this occasion I just had to
I don't normally write a review on a book that is terrible but on this occasion I just had to.Yes the book had a lot of sex and really if you download a book without checking what type of book it is then you have no-one to blame but yourself, so the other reviewers who scored low because of this, have no one to blame but themselves. My low score is due to the following:-In just about every scene between the H/h, he was always a whisper away from blowing his load! How many times did we need to read about this, it just go repetitive. After leaving a crime scene, which was horrendous to the H, he still gets into the mood as soon as he get home - nothing stops the energiser bunny! The H and his brother have a conversation in the kitchen and despite being super silent themselves and only knowing about each other's presence due to a sixth sense, they both fail to realise the h is listening in on a damning conversation which makes her leave the security of the house. The h leaves and doesn't call her own brother for assistance - because she believes that he will not take her side. The conversation she overheard what that she was being used as bait to lure the bad guy in. Is she really that stupid to believe her own brother (whom she is very close to), wouldn't come immediately once she had told him about the conversation she overhead. Then to top it off she leaves and you just know what is going to happen. At that point I thought she deserved everything she gets.

More about the relationship than action or suspense
This was an ok story, and zipped along fairly easily for a freebie. Cade is an ex-DEA agent trying to draw out a Cartel leader who was responsible for killing his lover when he was undercover. He's now working Vice and moves next door to Bayleigh. He and Bayleigh have sparks from first meeting, get together and cue the baddies catch up with him and there's a short set of cat and mouse scenes before it's resolved. This is heavy on the "romantic" element, that is there's a lot of thinking/talking about and having sex - with BDSM-like touch (I say 'like' as it wasn't presented in a SSC way and there were times I felt the forceful was tipping over into wrong territory). There's fairly earthy language too so a heads up as these elements may not be gathered from reading the blurb. The focus on action feels almost secondary and the storyline doesn't have much in the way of suspense so I was left feeling slightly underwhelmed. This was compounded by some scenes venturing into the ridiculous.I will go for the next book as the introduction of Cade's brothers and other characters suggests that this series could be going places.
