Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich

All of the Mountain House meals that we have utilized have been extremely consistent in very well made quality meals that bring functionality, ease of preparation and a very quick way to make a very nutritious meal to all of our outdoor adventures and also to any emergency situation you may find yourself in. They are very filling, every meal has enough portions for two grown adults. Not only are they delicious and nutritious but in almost every instance they've been very fun for us on our adventures because it's nice to be out in the backcountry and have something like beef stroganoff, hot and ready to eat in under 10 minutes. This Mountain House meal, the beef stroganoff is really, really good! The noodles are perfect, the sauce is mild, the onions, mushrooms and beef are perfectly cooked. There is a very generous portion of beef providing 12 g of protein per serving with two one and a half cup servings per meal these are perfect for quick, easy to pack, easy to carry, easy to prepare, nutritious meals. This meal is delicious!

I'm officially hooked on not only the convenience, but also the flavor. These aren't overly expensive considering the shelf life, portability, convenience, and yummmm factor.#1 Be sure to follow the instructions for the amount of water to use and remove the dessicant pack that comes sealed inside. The various flavored meals all have different quantity of water required. Too much or too little will result in either soggy or not completely hydrated.#2 After I add hot water out of our instant hot tap which is plenty hot enough, I zip the bag, hold it along the zipped edge, then gently swish it back and forth left to right so the dry goods comes in contact with the hot water.#3 I cover the entire bag including the bottom, sitting upright, with several towels to hold the heat inside while it's hydrating.#4 When you open it to stir and check the hydration, it's not unusual for the meal to be fully hydrated by the time you unzip it to stir but be sure you follow the hydration time and don't rush it. The cooler the water, the longer it will take which is why I cover mine while it's hydrating, to keep it warm and prevent it from cooling too quickly.Paid Thai is one of our faves. It's only a tad spicy and it's got great flavor.We've also tried 5 other flavors and they're all good.The one that seems to have the least flavor is the Adobe flavored which doesn't seem salty enough and lacks robustness, but heck, if you're starving after a day of being out and about, it's a perfectly good meal even without all the salt some of the others contain.I'm sensitive to salt and a lot of foods taste too salty to me but not these. If you want more salt, you can always add it but I love that they don't already come too salty. I haven't had to add anything to any of these bags except the one I just mentioned.You have nothing to lose - try one and if you like it, go place another larger order like I did. I have a shelf full of Pad Thai and a couple other flavors we really like. They're great time-savers since I work from home and tend to not want to leave for food.Price seems comparable to a carry out meal at a Thai restaurant.As for how filling they are, there's enough in the package that by the time I'm done eating, I don't feel like I still need to snack. I'm just a tad beyond feeling full, like I should have stopped eating 5 or 10 bites before I reach the end, but I have no issue polishing off the whole bag in one sitting.I'm going to be a long-time customer of this company and I'm really glad to have found them on social media. Never heard of them before I saw an ad for dehydrated meals. It was Brand X compared to this brand and one of the commenters said they tried both Brand X and this brand and said these were much better so that's why I bought them here.

As the title suggested, I found this item extremely simple to prepare. Boil some water, pour it directly in the package, close the package up, wait a couple minutes, then eat right out of the package. Couldn't be easier! And I found it a very enjoyable meal as well, much more so than I would have expected from a freeze dried meal. The only complaint I have, and I honestly debate whether or not it's worth an entire star, is that it counts as 2 servings and it's easily an amount of food I would eat in a single setting, even for a light lunch. Perhaps I'm just a chow-hound, I don't know. That's the only reason I haven't ordered some of their big buckets of meals with the decades long shelf life, is that I'm dividing all the servings by 2 to get an idea of what an actual meal would be like. Nevertheless, I have to recommend the product, both for simplicity of preparation and the quality of the meal itself.

I tried the Mountain House Chicken Fajita Bowl on a recent camping trip and was pleasantly surprised. The flavor is bold without being overpowering, and the chicken actually has good texture compared to some other freeze-dried meals. The rice, peppers, and beans rehydrated well and made for a hearty, satisfying dinner after a long day.Prep is as simple as it gets — just add hot water, wait about 10 minutes, and it’s ready to eat. The portion is generous enough for one hungry hiker or can be split between two if you’re pairing it with another snack.Overall, it’s one of my favorite Mountain House meals — flavorful, filling, and packs light. Definitely keeping a few of these in my gear for future trips.

We took some Mountain House MREs with us camping for at least one easy peasy meal. The most difficult thing about this particular meal was that it required extra waiting time to properly cook the pasta. But once it was done, I was super impressed at the quality, taste and texture.You know how lots of "with vegetables" products scrimp on the the veggies? The vegetables were plentiful, varied, and many seemed like they were fresh cooked instead of freeze dried and heated with water. I enjoyed the sauce and the pasta was perfectly al dente.I'm really surprised I liked this so much. In fact, I wished I had another for another night.
