Another Great Cold Steel Product.
Again, I can't say enough about the quality of Cold Steel products. The Axe Gang Hatchet is razor sharp, comes with a small rubber cover to protect the user from the edge, pretty much worthless as the axe is so sharp. Need to acquire some leather cover or something better and that is my only gripe. It is a heavy axe. Has an American Hickory Handle, and to top it off....Rick Grimes uses it in a few seasons of the Walking Dead. That is not the reason I purchased it. I just love Cold Steel blades. This will probably reside under the driver seat of my Jeep Rubicon. Never know when you may need to hack a limb off of something! Great for bushcraft or emergency situations. Compare this to an Eastwing hatchet for the price, which are also top of the line. BTW, I happen to carry an Eastwing rock hammer under the driver seat as well since my kids are rock hounds.

Legit tomahawk at great price.
None of the other reviews talked about actually throwing this hatchet. I bought it for several reasons: A. To throw B. The awesomeness of owning an Ax Gang hatchet C. To generally use in the woods. I'm experienced throwing knives of all sizes, and after a few misses, figures out how to throw this axe. It landed clean, chopped wood just fine, and looks great. In a youtube review here: [...] This guy proves the worth of this ax, shows it being thrown, and puts it to the test. He then explains how he broke it in half by purposefully trying to break it, compares it to a $130 tomahawk, and then calls it garbage. Bottom line, this is a great tool. It looks great, it works great, and it throws great. If you want a functional hatchet, a throwable tomahawk, or a generally righteous prop from kung fu history priced at just $20, this is for you!! If you're looking for a $130 tomahawk that won't break when you smash the handle against a tree, you should just re-evaluate your life choices.

Great camp ax!
If you want a small ax, that can bust up little pieces of wood, this is the one. It is perfect for a short term camping trip. It is also perfect for cutting small limbs from a tree if you are pruning. It is compact but still practical. It’s RAZOR sharp out of the box. It does not have a cover or holster of any sort. I will be making a cover out of kydex (thermo plastic). Good purchase.

I like
Bought two for axe throwing, my first one held up very well, with me letting an estimate of 60 different people throw with it, and lasting months, before I needed to replace the handle. I just gotten another one so I can lend them to even more people to throw. I can see how some handles may be worse then others but nothing is ment to last forever and the price for this axe is well worth the price. I have noticed the blade is very easy to chip but that is another normal wear and tear when throwing

Great hatchet .
According to cold steel the axe gang is deferentially hardened . I wouldn't use it to chop anything with a larger OD than the cutting face due to the straight edge profile . But its only a hatchet anyways . Anything under the OD of the cutting face it makes pretty quick work of . de limbing , small OD branch clearing , small OD splitting it works great . Decent thrower as well . Optimal throwing distance is approx 7 yards . Great value I think .

Thin bitted biter.
I am probably the only person to buy this for anything other than throwing. I bought this to use as an actual hatchet. I like the longer handle with the small head. It gives you a lighter weight with out sacrificing much swing power. The longer handle allows you to swing harder than it’s head weight would let on. The steel is decently hard. It stood up to chopping dry pine limbs without denting or rolling over. I removed the black enamel and the grind marks on the head are uniform. The handle grain was offset about 45 degrees from the bit. Acceptable for the price. Once the finish was removed and oiled, it became a nice handle for long use. I did rough up the area I hold to make up for the lack of fawns foot. I do the same with my tomahawks to great effect. The oval shape feels good in the hand and does not allow it to twist in your hand. The bit it quite thin. While it does stick into the wood more due to that, I prefer deep cutting hatchets. The long handle does make it more difficult to do single handed light cuts, but having more power in the swing makes up for it. My only gripe is the size of the eye. It is rather small and I worried it may not hold up long, but it has handled a few overstrikes without damage. My fear may have been unfounded. Overall, if you want an axe that splits the difference between a hatchet and boys axe, this is the ticket. Light enough to carry all day but heavy enough to cut whatever you come across cruising the wood lot. Would highly recommend.

Just a fine camp hatchet for the money.
This is my 3rd. I modify and give as gifts but I’m keeping one for me! A fine little camp log spitter due to head angle. Not a tomahawk but a great chopper. Can’t modify like I usually do due to crap for wood/netsl striiper now available but so what- great kindling maker around camp!

Fractured handle and completely flattened edge.
One of my first big losses with the Cold Steel lottery. The grain runoff is terrible. I received it with a fracture due to grain runoff right below the head. The axe would be unsafe to swing if not for the fact that the blade is completely dull. You can see in the images that the edge is completely flat to the point where it doesn't even slice skin. I can drop it into my palm from 6 inches and it doesn't cut me. The corner has even duller metal protruding outward. It almost feels like someone used an angle grinder to remove the edge to make it easier to ship. Speaking of shipping, it came loose in an empty 4 foot box that could have fit 30 of these without. There are scuff marks and some stains all around the base of the head that make it look like someone swung and missed with it. I'm not sure if I want to go through the effort of sharpening the edge from scratch and swapping out the handle or gamble with a possibly worse replacement.

Increíble producto lo recomiendo

Bought this for throwing. The head meets NATF standards, but the handle is too long. If you cut it down to size (most people like the 14-15" range), it's a great throwing axe. It sticks in hard boards and cuts through knots with ease. My average score is up about 8 points since changing to this axe. This axe also has a sturdier handle than the Cold Steel "Competition Thrower", which means it's not going to snap on you. If you're trying to decide between the two, spend the extra money on this one unless you want to spend the time replacing the handle on the CT. (Darker handle in the picture it's the axe gang, lighter is the competition thrower)

Es ist nicht "flush", es hat auch die Gießspure an sich (you can clearly see that they just poured the paint over, spilled it over etc.) 3.
