Great headset...until it broke.
I have owned my PX4 headset for about six months now, and was 100% happy and satisfied with them until an incident about a month ago. In order to use the microphone, your headset must be connected to the PS4 controller via a short cord. Previously this never bothered me, but on this occasion I had the controller and headset connected via the cord, and while the controller was sitting in my lap I accidentally dropped it about a foot and a half to the floor. The connecting cord tugged pretty hard on the headset, and actually cracked the plastic on the thin strip that connects the headphones to the thicker padded section - on both sides! This thinner section is the part that slides in and out of the thicker padded part when you adjust the headphones to comfortably cover your ears, and has two layers with wires between. On one side the outer plastic cracked in two spots and a quarter-inch sized section fell off of just the outer layer, while on the other side both layers cracked almost all the way through. Initially, this was my favorite gaming headset ever. They were a gift to me from my wife (I researched and picked out this model. ) I haven't owned many other high end headsets so I don't have much to compare them to, but in my opinion the sound quality was great. I used these for watching movies, lots of gaming, and in-game chatting. The battery life is excellent, I love that the mic is removable because I don't always use it, and once I figured out how to use the control buttons mounted on the headset they were fairly easy and useful. My only complaints are 1) Poor quality construction, and 2) If I connect the charging cord while using these they pick up faint radio signals, so can't charge and game at the same time. All in all, I really wanted to love these and use them for years to come. I really like almost everything about this headset, but for $100 or more, I feel you should expect more than 6 months of use from them. I am currently watching the crack on the one side of my headset slowly grow, and while I wait for them to someday snap and become trash I have started to look for a new headset. Would I recommend? I *really* wish I could, because I *loved* this headset right up until the moment it broke. Unfortunately, I feel the quality of construction just isn't there, especially at the price point. If you're looking for a quality headset, I advise looking elsewhere.

Honest review after 1.5 years of use
I have purchased this product for XBOX 360 and continued using it for a new PS4. Been using this product thoroughly for the past 1.5 yrs. It still works great. Pros: - sounds GREAT, especially when using the bass+treble boost equalizer mode. - multiple virtual surround speaker configurations. Had best results with all speakers at 45 degrees left/right/front/back to hear people sneaking up on you in shooter games. - battery life is surprisingly long. Will easily last me 1-2 weeks of gaming 1-3 hours a day. - Works wireless unless using party chat which requires the attached "talk-back cable". - Charging cable is very long, easily allowing to charge while playing in the living room at a 3-4 meter distance from a TV. - Detachable microphone, also is switchable. - robust build (Does not feel cheap) without a scratch after over 1.5 years of extended use, fits well on my head, does not cause any significant discomfort even in long gaming sessions. - bluetooth is still usable to connect to a smartphone, allowing you to receive calls and answer via microphone. - microphone monitor (with separate volume toggle on the headset) allows you to hear yourself in the speakers so you don't shout at your friends (could have had stronger max volume actually) - this and other headsets are a must to avoid disturbing wife/kids. - specific games with surround sound support on PS4 are mindblowing (specifically: Battlefield 4 and The Last of Us are notable in terms of the audio quality). - Aesthetically fits PS4 well (black/blue color scheme, router is a slanted parallelogram that looks like it belongs on top of a PS4). - The headphone wireless router connects to the console via digital audio, allowing you to still have your console connected to a TV with an HDMI cable and play audio from the TV and headphones at the same time. Cons: - "talk-back cable" that came with it did not have a mute/vol toggle on it (was just a cable). Required a separate purchase to be able to control and balance in-game vs. chat volume, disconnecting cable to mute. For chat on current gen this headset cannot use Bluetooth (this is because of Sony not supporting it). this cable is a minor nuisance only connecting to the dualshock 4/xbox controller. Without this cable, you can only control master volume with sliders on the headset, and have to change chat volume in the console menu. - sometimes has minor audible hum that comes and goes. It uses dual-wireless so could be just electrical interference in my living room. Overall this is an excellent product well worth the cash. Newer models have gone completely wireless (party chat included) but seem to have lower audio quality overall? After 1.5 yrs with it, nothing ever broke off and works great, no reason to purchase another headset in the near future. You could probably spend more for a higher end model if you are a serious audiophile or consider yourself a "pro gamer" (whatever that means...)

I have used these for a couple of months now after buying them for Battlefield 4 on the PS4 and I love them. The surround sound works very well in FPS games (tried on BF4 and CoD AW). I know people have said that they can hear footsteps creeping up on them etc and you can but more so in CoD where there is a fraction of the stuff going on compared to BF4. In BF4 you have vehicle sounds and gunfire which more often than not (and rightly so) drowns out the sound of someone coming up behind you. Pros: Comfort - can wear them for hours and barely know that they're there. Audio quality - For gaming, they're incredible. They haven't turned me into a one man radar but the surround sound is pretty spot on. Mic - I love that it's detachable and the PS4 auto detects when you plug the mic into the headset. Controls - quite a few adjustments can be made. Surround sound field, bass, explosion dampening mic volume etc. Construction - These feel well made and built to last. Not sure what others are doing to theirs but I see no problems so far. Battery life - I haven't timed how long they last or if it's up to the manufacturer's claims but it's pretty damn good. Connection - Generally they just work flawlessly. It has dropped a few times and I'm not sure quite why but it comes back by itself after 20-30 seconds. No piece of tech is perfect 100% of the time. Cons: Ok, they're not truly wireless on the PS4 because you have to connect the headset to your PS4 controller. Not really worth knocking off a star though. The worst point for me was the sound field setup - the thing that determines the angles of the sound so that you can hear stuff going on in front of you and around you accurately. Maybe I'm just being slow but all the other controls like bass level and explosion dampener have say 4 levels and a corresponding number of beeps. Simple. But the sound field one uses a sequence of flashing lights on the front of the bluetooth dongle unit that plugs into the PS4. I feel that could have done with a diagram or something. I figured it out by trial and error.
