Cafe Du Monde Coffee with Chicory, 15-Ounce (Pack of 2)

Best bargain around. The taste is just like New Orleans and is so easy to use. I love the cans too. The coffee is distinctive in taste and smoothness. Love, love, love and don't have to travel for it.

Great coffee, love the taste!

A trip to NOLA would not be worth the effort without a stop to Cafe Du Monde for beignets and coffee with chicory. However, you might not have time to go to New Orleans-so try this coffee instead. This is a rich roast, that (in my opinion) can be served black, or with sugar, cream, or any type of syrup. When I drink this coffee (and I like mine black by the way, I like the taste and smell of it) I think, smell and feel like I am in NOLA again. I am a coffee addict, and I love just about any type of coffee but this is one of my favorites. The can is also fun to save and can be used for a variety of purposes. The can style, shape and size has not changed for ages and ages. I felt this was a great deal, the coffee is wonderful and easy to make in your drip coffee maker and well worth your time for the price.

I've been enjoying Café Du Monde coffee since a trip to New Orleans back in the 90s. I find it from time to time at specialty stores, but I find it easier to buy it this way. Cost seems a little less through Amazon as well. This coffee is rich with a hint of Chicory which gives it a nice punch. The newer benefit I've discovered is that this coffee is one of the few that actually makes a good K-Cup. Most coffees come out weak in the K-Cup filters but this one holds its own. I use it that way these days almost exclusively, as it makes the can seem to last longer.

I forgot to place my order for more coffee and had to buy a can from the grocery store. It was one of the very popular brands and it didn't even taste like real coffee. I've been buying Cafe de Monde for several years and it's the only coffee that I like and will continue to buy. I was stationed near New Orleans when I was in the Air Force and visited New Orleans most weekends, and had breakfast at their restaurant. When I saw that Amazon sold it, I was hooked.

This review is most relevant to others who, like myself, are new to coffee with chicory. As with most things, this comes down to a matter of taste. I've been to New Orleans (never had coffee there), and I've never tried coffee with chicory before. I bought this product solely based on rave reviews here on Amazon. I like trying new things. It arrived as well sealed as coffee can be. You need a can opener to get to the coffee, which is a GOOD thing. There's more than just paper between you and the grind. When I opened it up, its smelled good! I was excited to try it out. I made it the way I usually make coffee - with 1 spoon of sugar and just enough half and half to lighten the color up a tiny bit. I was disappointed. It had a really strong almost burnt taste that I did not enjoy. I read the back of the can, which recommended adding as much milk as coffee. So I decided to give it another shot and prepare it the recommended way. I had a cup and a half of coffee and following recommendations online to heat an equal amount of homogenized milk before adding it in. That made all the difference. It's so much better this way, I love it! I don't know if I'd recommend it to coffee drinkers who are set in their ways. If I have it "my way", I'd give it 3 stars. When I make it the Cafe Du Monde way, that's 5 stars or awfully close. I'm averaging that out to 4 stars. Give it a shot if you're willing to increase your milk dosage for some delicious coffee!

purchased based on exposure to Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. Have purchase multiple times since. Now ihis is the coffee of choice for us.
