Quarks and Leptons: An Introductory Course in Modern Particle Physics

I think this textbook is acceptable, but Griffiths' particle physics book (2nd edition) is much nicer. I personally have low tolerance for physicists who cannot communicate well, so I am truly in love with Griffiths (the book, but I'm sure the man isn't too bad).Unlike Halzen and Martin...-Griffiths spends more time and paper using clear English making it an enjoyable read, which is especially helpful for the beginner.-Griffiths also has many very nice tables, figures, and explicitly written equations that are great for reference. Halzen and Martin sometimes requires having other reference materials (such as Griffiths) available to solve the problems.-Lastly, Griffiths does not waste your time with handwaving pseudo QFT and simply states that certain things can be derived from QFT.

This book is not a good introductory textbook for studying particle physics.I struggled a lot to understand the concepts in the book when I was reading it as a first year graduate student. The authors did not really explain how Feynman diagrams work before using it extensively throughout the text. They also frequently skipped steps in their derivations of many results, making it very hard to see how they got their results. I had to make tons of footnotes to fill in the gap, which was extremely annoying (I can't even recall how many times I was on the verge of throwing this book into the fireplace.) Also, it is freaking dated. The authors were not even sure that top quarks were real.I wouldn't have gotten this book if it were not for the fact that my professor, who apparently never cared to update her teaching style, followed this book very closely.Please use Griffiths.

I liked the concise approach, covering most essential aspects of modern particle physics. The problems were at the right level for an introductory text.

I used this book for an independent study in particle physics and found it clear and concise.my background: Quantum 1 and was currently taking Quantum 2

The statndard textbook on elementary particles course we had in university. Excellent.

An extremely useful book (once I did a semester of Field Theory).

Very good book in introductory particle physics. It also introduces basic concepts of Relativistic QFT. With hints and solutions to most exercises.It would be a good combination with Griffiths' "Introduction to elementary particle physics". When you master these two, you can tackle easily more advanced texts!

This book is very great. The explanation is straighthrough right to the point without useless and confusing explanations. It is hard to find a book not too much simple and not too much mathematical and the way it is explained is very clear.
