Tool works great. Used on 07 Chevy HHR 2.4L
Tool works great! When installed you don't have to worry about bolts falling in the timing cover and it holds timing cam in place.

Simple and proper tool
Great tool, compared to the other style that are half moon shape, this is nice because it covers the hole completely, making it so you don't have to worry about dropping bolts inside.

Good investment
Does what it's supposed to, block opening of the block

This is better than the half moon design
This tool is a cheaper version of OTC. The bolts are not held captive so this will be more a challenge to line them up so make sure you have a good view of the front so you can line the bolts up. Remember once the bolts are in the front then use the cover bolts to secure the tool to the timing cover which you may need to turn the crank pulley. Once you get all that snug, you got to find the rest of the the water pump mess. If you do not use this tool the balance shaft could come out of time and you will have issues.

Very good
This thing actually worked amazingly well.

Great
I like this 1 because it is the size of the entire hole & not just half of it. It will hold the timing chain securely in place.

Better design than half circle tool
This tool in the full circle design is far superior to the half circle design. You cant do this crazy 4 cylinder waterpump without it. Will it be a more confined spot to work, slightly yes but you cant drop any hardware into the engine with this version.

Works as it should and better than Lisle's semi circular one because it will save you from not only dropping bolts inside the timing cover but also by holding the sprocket (gear) in-place when you take out the pump. However it is important to know that even if you use the tool (this or any other brand for that matter) to hold the sprocket in-place from moving and the tensioner from recoiling, there is a high probability that you will have to adjust (loosen) the tensioner. If you get the whining noise after replacing the water pump you will have to open the timing cover. Ecotec water-pump replacement inside the engine bay is a frustrating job. Use all three bolts that are provided to tighten down the tool to the sprocket and also make sure to secure the tool to the block (to prevent movement) by using bolts of the access cover. Thank you

works as it should, much cheaper athn the brand name like OTC, snap on, or mac, and does the exact same job, for much less, being a mechanic for 35 years, i know better now than to spend foolishly on tools just for the name

My wife has the Eco tech four-cylinder engine in a Pontiac solstice. The water pump has gone bad if you take it to the shop, it’s probably $1200 to fix if you have a little mechanical sense and sometime you can do it yourself but you must use this tool. Unfortunately the water pump is driven by the timing chain system in this vehicle and many others like it go on YouTube you can see how to use this tool to properly secure the timing chain into position, so it does not move until that time you cannot remove the water pump or you will mess up the timing. Like the video says just be careful not to drop any bolts inside the engine, but this should do the trick this has three securing bolts. Most of the clamps only have two bolts, which is not good.
