Pruning Made Easy: A Gardener's Visual Guide to When and How to Prune Everything, from Flowers to Trees (Storey's Gardening Skills Illustrated Series) Review: Nice reference book - I'm a rabid gardener. As I got older, I've forgotten some UCONN horticulture basics I learned while earning my degree. This book has a good amount of basic and sound pruning information on a wide variety of plants material. Good to have on hand. Review: Great engaging read! - This was a required book for a basic pruning class toward my Horticulture degree and I must say that it is well worth keeping after the course is finished. Pruning may seem like a simple task to someone who has never taken a class, but once you learn proper technique you can quickly recognize improper technique when gazing upon any tree you see. It's an engaging read that makes you want to keep going and it presents the information in such a simple way that it would be difficult to see why anyone would make improper cuts after reading it. I recommend this book to students and horticulture enthusiasts who want to learn more about pruning.

Mostly helpful but could define some terms better
Preparing to plant several apple trees to create a mini-orchard and wanted to be up on fruit tree trimming for when it's needed. It gives a generally good description of what needs to be done but there are some terms used that are not fully defined or are a bit ambiguous. For instance, I know what the "crotch angle" is when referring to where a limb attached to the larger feature but the definition of what is too much, too little and just right is not defined well at all. Sure, I can look all that up but I was hoping for a single point of reference for my resource so I wouldn't have to jump around from book to book or book to internet. Overall, a good resource just missing some context on certain topics. I bought this used and while it is fully intact and readable, I think the seller was a bit generous in their rating of the condition.

Great book, easy to read.
Best book on pruning for booth beginner and seasoned gardener. Easy illustrations, large print well organize. I give it as a gift as a gift at our Xmas gift swap for garden club and they fight over it.

Excellent Reference!
Recently purchased this book to help with our small orchard and garden. It provides specific, concise instructions on pruning a variety of trees, vines, shrubs, etc. It also discusses how to prune for best fruit production vs how to prune for prettiest growth, and other useful topics. Very easy to use and understand. I strongly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn how to prune effectively.

Very Helpful
Very helpful info about how, when, and why to prune. Well written and easy to understand. Some of the illustrations could be a bit better; that just means you need to READ the info and not just look at the pictures. :-)

Must-have pruning book
I got this book from the library and renewed it as many times as I could. Then I just had to have my own copy because it is so easy to use, makes a rank amateur like myself comfortable with pruning. Illustrations are so instructive, just great. With your own book, you can make notes, such as "pruned half dead growth this year, do rest next year in fall" and even add your own photos.

Hard back book with picture illustrations. I like its layout as it seems very clear and easy to follow. It arrived in good condition and within the time predicted. Good service from the bookseller.

A very handy guide to pruning. A better index and colour illustrations would improve the book but it is pretty comprehensive and has given me the confidence to go out there and tackle some long overdue pruning.
