Original Portland Plotter

Excellent mariner plotter. Ease of use gives it superiority over other plotters which I have used in the past. Great quality in material and construct. Frustrated with a flimsy plotter for RYA and ASA courses, I upgraded from the low end plotter that was included with my RYA course. I had wondered why my plotting was always slightly off. A careful check of my existing plotter showed the bearing allowed 2 degrees of slack. Upgrading to the Lindeman model, I noted an instant improvement. The unit build quality alone is a big upgrade. The dial has clearer figures with an alignment magnifier. The lines are clearer and thinner, so you dont mis align with the underlying chart. The center bearing has some friction so it does not easily rotate off the selected direction. All in all, a significant upgrade. My accuracy problem resolved immediately.

This now my go to plotter. Allows accurate course settings with error few variation calculations. No more skipping and sliding with rulers

I like this plotter quite a lot. It's about 14" long overall, so it's easy to plot longer course lines. It's solid and feels good in the hand, and the numbers are clear and easy to read. The rotating dial is a little stiff, the plotter being new, but is fairly easy to turn even so, and it has little plastic nubbins to act like handles for ease in turning. I only wish it came with a vinyl or plastic sleeve to protect it in my navigation kit bag. Beyond that, I love this thing!

This product says that 1Nm = 1.51 Miles which is incorrect. It should be 1.15 Miles. I’m a bit shocked that no one has caught this.
