Shipping was timely, though packaging should have been better. Despite only being loosely wrapped with brown paper in a box that allowed it to bounce around inside during shipping, the part has a decent quality fit and finish. Cast housing with stainless bearing and impeller. New fan clutch studs were included, which was unexpected but very much appreciated. The part installed perfectly and works as it should.

About 15 years ago, my truck's water pump started drip drip dripping coolant through its weep hole, which is a tell tale sign that a water pump's seal is compromised. For a cost savings, the first two aftermarket water pumps that I had purchased from an unnamed local automotive parts shop failed within months. For the third attempt, and for a few dollars more, my KA24E powered '91 Nissan Hardbody was now equipped with a Gates water pump; that water pump had the longest service life of any water pump used in any vehicle that I've owned. Recently, and finally after several years, a few sweet smelly drops of coolant under my truck evidenced that there was a leak somewhere. A cursory look at the water pump's weep holes confirmed it was time again. Upon checking Amazon, a quick search yielded that a new "41162" was gonna cost just over $22. $22! for a Gates? No reason to even give it a second thought; once it arrived, I saw that even a gasket was included with purchase. My hopes are high that my past experience with a Gates water pump and V belt, will be reflected in the reliability of the new water pump that I installed. A little about your water pump if you're an inexperienced D.I.Y. person and don't know already: You can be left stranded and immobile along the roadside due to a failed alternator, fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, among other things, but replace or rebuild the appropriate single part and you're often rolling again. If your water pump fails and starts leaking, and continues to leak coolant that isn't topped up, however, it will lead to an overheated engine, and that WILL be costly. Pay a little more for a quality part if necessary, or, get lucky and find a quality part on Amazon for cheap like I did. Good luck!
