Helpful for my problems!
I wrote this review on the Butterfly website but though it might be here too. I bought my first package of Butterfly's from Amazon After receiving a sample, I bought my first batch of these a month ago. I realized this week that I don't want to be without them now! I am a small person and have found them easy to trim so that they don't interfere with urinating. There are times when the adhesive doesn't seem to work so well and it may have to do with some of the body lotions I use. I have food allergies that cause uncontrollable bowel leakages that are often more solid than watery and these at least give me time to get to the toilet and deal with the mess. They have even made it thru a a Zumba class once or twice, although I was a little nervous each time. Thanks, Butterfly.

Great invenetion!
I have Crohn's disease, and do not always know if I will have a leak. These are fantastic, especially for long trips. I have no discomfort from them, they peel off easily, and keep undies clean. Much more effective than my attempts at temporary fixes or panti liners. Wish I'd invented them!

Awkward, not a good solution
Too difficult to place, awkward to use, therefore, not a solution for an embarrassing problem. A better option might be if the wings had a bio adhesive on them. They need to be easier to place, & be able to stay in place better. As they are now, its 1 try, or waste this very expensive, ineffective product.

Being in Public without ABL Worries
The Butterfly Pads have made it easier for me to do things in public, including walking. Due to Crohns and nerve damage from sacral insufficiency fractures, ABL (accidental bowel leakage) is a near daily occurrence. I gave only 4 stars because I think the product is overpriced. The Pads come in quantities that suggest the manufacturer expects a person will use one a day (e.g., 28 in a box sounds like a month's supply). Unfortunately, there are days where more than one Pad will be needed. The price might seem acceptable if one thinks "well, that's not much for a whole month." The price seems more exorbitant if one goes through, for example, 4 in one day. The price also matters to me because I have found it impossible to keep the Pad dry while urinating. If I forget to remove it before urinating, the Pad will have to be replaced. I have some thoughts and/or tips on product expectations and product usage (i.e., how to apply the pad). PURPOSE. The Butterfly Pad is meant to hold or absorb minor amounts of bowel leakage. The Pad will absorb that nasty liquid that sometimes seems to seep out. It also will absorb minor amounts of fluid accompanying flatulence; said more bluntly, the Pads are very helpful if you have "wet" or "humid" farts. The Pad also can temporarily secure/contain a small stool. These Pads, however, are NOT adult diapers and they cannot absorb or contain any real quantity of stool or diarrhea. FYI, I use both the Butterfly Pad and a panty liner with wings for maximum protection from embarrassingly obvious accidents. PLACEMENT. My guess is many people considering the Butterfly Pad have already tried to make their own. If you have folded layers of toilet paper and then pushed them in or around your anus, then you have tried to make your own Butterfly Pad. Unlike the toilet paper which rarely stays in place, Butterfly Pads will stay in place if the Pad is applied/positioned correctly. Initially, I had problems placing the Butterfly Pad correctly, but eventually figured it out. The following works for me and maybe will help someone else. (1) Be sure the long wings are pointing up your back. The long wings aren't much longer than the short ones, but if the long wings are pointing inward toward your crotch, the pad will probably feel uncomfortable and the long wings will be in the way. (2) Applying from behind (vs. through your legs) may be the easier approach. If you are having trouble placing the pad, you might try switching whatever your approach is. If you do apply from behind, you might find it easiest NOT to be sitting on the toilet; stand and bend your knees. (3) Try putting your finger smack dab in the middle of the pad portion of the Butterfly. You would do this on the non-sticky side. Then aim your finger for the anus and apply. Treat your anus as the bull's-eye for the center of the Pad! (4) Finally, adjust where the tape is sitting on you. Chances are, the tape is secured to a different part of your buttocks than you need it to be. Start GENTLY pulling on one cheek and the Pad; as the tape pulls away from your skin, secure it more closely to the inside of your buttocks. Do the same with the other cheek. You may need to do each cheek more than once. It is sort of a pull-tuck, pull-tuck action so that the taped part of the Pad is more inside your cheeks closer to the anus. Pull GENTLY on the Pad/tape; if you pull too hard, the tape can pull off the Pad (I ruined a few before I got the hang of how and how hard to pull the pad without causing the tape to separate from the Pad). I found this pull/tuck action to 100% improve how the Pad fit and stayed in place. (5) If the pad is still uncomfortable after trying the above, then try the following. Get the pad as close to in-position as you can; wear it for about half an hour and then try repositioning it. You may find the pad easier to position after it has warmed to your body temperature and has absorbed some general skin moisture.

They work great!!
I really love this product. It adds some peace of mind, especially when I'm away from home. I don't use them everyday, but always carry a couple in my pocketbook so that I don't have to worry about "anything" showing on my clothes if I can't wait til I get home to use the bathroom. They also work for me after an enema because they hold that "seepage" intact. I have only been able to buy the large size in stores when and if I can find them. When I seen that Amazon had the small/medium size, I snapped up 3 boxes. The smaller sizes fits so much better for me. I not a small woman as I weigh approximately 165 lbs and am 5'6". I don't have to change them every time I go to the bathroom like I did with the bigger size because they were so long that they got wet. I am so thankful that a product like this exists for people like me. Thank you Butterfly!!

Difficult to have it adhere correctly but good concept
Adhesive is limited and located in an area that is difficult to administer onto your skin without it sticking to bits that hurt. There are two small narrow strips of adhesive, one on either side of the bung hole, and if you don't get it just right the first time you might as well give up and start again with another one which is impractical since they are not cheap. Otherwise they're handy and certainly a good concept but even the smallest size had butterfly "wings" tips that were too long and created bunching up in the wrong areas. It would have been better if the "wings" were shorter because once it's bunched up it's ruined. I took scissors and cut off the tips and that helped somewhat. Again great concept just not the best execution.
