Beautiful items- very well made. Timeless design!

Country French is a lovely, lightly accented pattern that has been around a long time and is not overly ornate. The quality seems comparable to the older version that was made either in the US or Japan, although these are now made in Vietnam. (Lenox now owns Reed & Barton and Oneida, and their top-end flatware lines are made in Vietnam of quality 18/10 stainless steel.) The knives still have the beautiful 18/10 hollow handles as before. Nice size, weight, and balance; sturdy and truly dishwasher safe. Very pleased with my new place setting so far. Some accessory pieces are hard to find, though. Btw, the flatware I received (5-pc place setting, and from another site several tall drink spoons) has a shiny mirror finish as in the past, not a matte finish.

Beautifully made and has a substantial and very comfortable feel. I may order more place settings next time it’s on sale.

This was a pricey set, but it is so beautiful, and they have a nice weight to them. I've had them about 6 months and they still look perfect. I get compliments on them all the time.

This set is pleasantly plain but classic. It very easily works on a casual or more formal table. I really liked that this set wasn't so ornate and matched up pretty close to our existing flatware. The design is a good combination of traditional and modern. As well, each piece has a solid feel without being too heavy or awkward. We make heavy use of this place setting on a daily basis and the entire set goes through the dish washer at least once per day. So far, no discoloration, scratches or rust. This was a good price for good quality flatware and we plan to buy another set to have on hand as the old set we had before this one runs its course. Actually, flatware is like missing socks in our house and I suspect the missing pieces have ended up in the garbage. If you have children or absent minded adults, this set isn't too expensive and individual pieces can be ordered if you need to replace it.

I was trying to replace the flatware I bought from a brand called Retroneu 12 years ago. My Retroneu flatware still looks like brand new (12 years later), however [somebody] in my house has lost all of my Retroneu spoons. (I do have 3 kids in the house). Anyhoo... In my search for attractive high end flatware that will last me the next 12 years, I narrowed down by choices to this Allora set by Reed & Barton and another set by a brand called Ricci. I went ahead and purchased BOTH sets from Amazon so that I could check them out and hold them in my hand. This Reed and Barton set is quite nice and I would recommend it to anyone. I prefer the larger fork times on this Reed and Barton set. The Reed and Barton is lighter in weight than the Ricci, whereas I prefer the heavier weight of the Ricci. This Reed and Barton set is still worthy of 5 stars because it is gorgeous flatware. However, I am going to go ahead and buy more place settings if the Ricci, as the Ricci felt more substantial/heavier in my hand.

UPDATE: My knives (the blade area) have discolored! I called Reed and Barton and was told to only use the regular cascade in my dishwasher. I have a lot of the Cascade Complete leftover so I have been washing my new stainless by hand for weeks. However now the knives that were ok have dark spots. I sent back the discolored knives to Reed and Barton and it looks like they sent seconds (not pretty) and some are scratched! Or they just polished the old ones and threw them in the box, one butter knifes still had a scratch on it. I feel I have wasted my money! The quality of Reed and Barton is not good!!!!!!!!!! My 30 year-old stainless looked better. The Reed & Barton Sea Shells pattern it not on both sides of the forks or spoons (it is on the knife). The pattern is more simple than it appears but I still like it a lot. This is a medium-weight stainless and, for under $23.00 for a 5 piece place setting, a good price. This pattern/weight is nice for an everyday stainless. Made in Vietnam. Stamped 18/10. 2nd Update: March 2015, I have returned most of my knives twice for replacement. However, they are looking bad again and I will have to return them again for replacement. Note that the forks, and spoons (and all serving pieces) still look great. I was told by Reed and Barton that the blades on the knives are a different type of metal. Maybe this time I will get lucky-and the quality of the knife blades will be better. I should change my review to 2 stars because they always replace the knives, but I shouldn't have to keep returning them. Also R&B told me to hand wash my knives------no way.
