Ordered Fan, Got Fake.
Received today. Although the fan appears to be mechanically working fine, has bright LEDs and decent airflow... it does not appear as a connected device on any of my computers. The device manager shows no new devices connecting to/disconnecting from the computer when you plug it in or unplug it, and the included software (after some work to get it to display in English) says the fan is not connected. The instructions included were also of no help, as they are entirely in Chinese; and attempting to use google translate to translate them to English yielded no help. Upon contacting the manufacturer, I was informed that it was "not their product" as all of theirs ship with English instructions; and upon further inspection, the included driver CD appeared to be a store-bought writable CD, which appears to support that assertion. I am disappointed, however, that this item was fulfilled by Amazon; as I would expect some sort of quality control to weed out fakes, as the reviews for these products appear to not differentiate which seller you bought the item from, and if this is indeed as good of a product as people state it is, then I'd hate to lower the review score. All the same, though, I received a non-working fake and will be returning the product.

Great little toy
Great fun for a few bucks. The construction does not inspired great confidence. It uses 2 small springs touching a copper swipe contact to pass the 5 volts from the USB to the spinning propeller head, and those will wear out pretty quickly. But, as long as you know that and accept that, it's a great little toy that can even cool you down in a small room.

Great Display, So-So Fan
I purchased this to use on my YouTube shows as an intro. I loaded the software which is quit good and has a lot of options for your messages. I then connected the fan to my PC. PC did not see a see USB device. I tried another computer with a different version of Windows, still no new device. I tried plugging and un-plugging several times with no luck. I sent an email to the maker (about 30 minutes ago). I read the questions and reviews and saw that several other people had this problem so I figured it was a defect. WRONG! In my case it was an operator error. As I was putting everything back in the packaging I notice a USB cable, did not know what this was for since the fan already has a USB on it. There was no mention of using this extra cable (I thought). Just as I was about to stuff everything back in the shipping box, I noticed a picture on the box of this cable connected to the SIDE of the fan. I took everything back out of the box and connected it up with the small USB and BOOM it worked. AND there is a step in the instructions to connect this extra cable (my bad). With the "programming" cable connect it was very easy to program the messages with all kinds of options on how the messages will be displayed. The fan worked as advertised. However, the flexible cable is too flexible and will not hold the fan up very long (seconds). You can find positions that it will stay up but not as shown in the ad. You will need to prop it up and make sure you do not strain your USB port. The fan does not push a lot of air around but I did not purchase it for the fan but for the display. Conclusion: Read the instructions carefully. That being said it makes a great display and after you program it it can be moved to any device to display the messages. I am using a little USB charger to power it so I don't even have to use up a USB port on my computer. Update: Seller contacted me with a few hours of my email with the answer.

not reliable
i bought 4 of these fans. after about a month of use, all 4 of them died. one stopped working entirely, and the others had their LED's go out. I think that the pressure put on the USB plug from the weight of the goose neck and fan head is too much for the components in the plug assembly. its possible that propping these things up or building some kind of bracket to take pressure of the plug could help to keep them working longer however, i will say that they were very cool while they worked, and easy to program. also note that the LEDs in the fans are actually pure blue, the photo shown is a bit misleading.

this fan blows
The fan might work ok, but the software is on a mini cd, and there isn't an option to download the software from the internet. My laptop isn't old enough to have a CD player, so I don't have any option to enjoy the fan. There are some download links provided by other customers but none of them route to a live website. You'll lose a lot of time/sanity trying to get this gadget to play nice with your computer... I'll just send it back.

A Good, Fun Product
Gave this as a gift and it was perfect! The connection between the fan and USB port on the actual device is attached by adjustable metal so you don't have to worry about the wires eventually stripping. The messages that you can program into the fan can clearly be read and the software that let's you change the messages is simple and easy to understand. Instructions come with the product which are easy to understand as well. It has a little on/off button on the fan so you can toggle usage. Overall, well built and gets what I want it to do.

Limp Shaft, but still fun!
The software didn't run on my Win 7 ..but I think its due to being 64 bit. Other systems running 32 was fine. The light show is a gang of fun at the pub!! My local bar have USB ports for charging phones and it worked well there. Anyway, programming messages was easy, There is no option for static display, all messages have to appear, leave or rotate, then repeat. You can't leave a single message on without it having to appear and disappear. The worse part of this device is the shaft (ha..shaft!) its limp as hell. IT doesn't stand on its own. It flops over...even worse when its running due to vibrations. I re-laced it with paper clips for rigidity, but now it looks like hell. Its still running on day 4!

DANGER!! fire hazard!!
Bought is a bit ago, and all was fine. Fun to use and leave messages up. But from day one it was having some problems. It would not run at a steady speed, and then the messages would disappear because the fan speed got so slow. I would wiggle it at the usb base and it work start displaying the messages again. but for the money I figured it was good enough. And then this week, it just stopped. I unplugged it and left it on my desk. Well some one plugged it in again, and it melted!! A coworker smelled something and when I checked the fan (see photos) this is what I found. The housing had melted!! SO BEWARE, if yours is not running at a steady speed, send it back.
