BOB ROSS DVD WORKSHOP

This is the Bob Ross so many of us watched on PBS and loved for years. The Bob Ross that got the biggest kick out of pounding the terp out of his brushes. The Bob Ross that left us far too soon. I was so happy to receive this DVD and to once again be entertained while also learning technique from one of the nicest talents ever! I had a mountain of VHS tapes I taped while watching his show. Of course, tapes are no longer viable so what an asset to be able to buy DVDs. Of special note: one reviewer mentioned not being able to play this DVD on his Apple, so I emailed his site re this issue. They responded that the DVD would not play on MACs. I decided to give it a try anyway and it does indeed play on my MAC. I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro and the DVD player is excellent (as is the computer itself!). I don't know which MACs won't accept this DVD but my recommendation is to give it a try especially if you have a newer MAC. For those of you with smaller laptops which do not have a DVD drive, Apple makes an external DVD player which can be hooked up to the laptop. Of course, most of you probably already knew that but just in case thought I'd mention that. I'm so happy to have Bob Ross in my home again and fully intend to buy additional DVDs now that I know I can play them. Why is it that so many talented people leave us way too soon???

This instructional cd is packed full of great information. Working in acrylic paints years ago, I did sell a few pieces of my works. As I've said, many years ago, so ordered this CD to brush up on my technique. Bob Ross, gives examples of "Happy Mistakes" then shows how to correct them. I can't praise the CD enough, from the beginner, to experienced painter, you'll learn something. Reasonable price, like going to classes, but less costly!

Wasn't what I thought, that was my fault. I thought it was a 3 hour detailed work shop of one painting. It's a tutorial on making all the elements that go into his paintings. Different trees, bushes, waterfalls, mountains etc. I have to admit I've appreciated learning the techniques he used.

This is an excellent book for beginners. There are 4 mountains. Two of the mountains have that Sci-Fri (Lord of the Rings) look to it. If you have never painted before in oil and you have never used painting knifes before; than this book is for you. You get this for your money: 1. skies (I believe there are 6 different skies to paint in oil) 2. mountains ( 4 different mountains to paint in oil) 3. trees ( 6-8 different trees to paint, including Evergreen, Pine, and Birch trees). There may be more trees in this DVD? 4. water ( I believe the are 6-7 different types of water). 5. A complete landscape oil painting from the beginning to the end (this is the last demonstration in the DVD) 6. Snow on the mountains, mist, fog in the air, and a winter look. A catalog comes with the DVD to order his paint brushes, paint, knifes, floral DVDs, and other landscape DVDs. etc. I intead to go to [...] to order the other DVD's and get free shipping with no sales tax.

What I didnt like is that the dvd was copied from a VHS tape and you get a lot of the old crinkling around the edges of the video. Another thing was the dvd does not touch on making cabins but that's okay

Bob slowly demonstrates the techniques used in painting clouds, mountains, greenery (trees, bushes etc.) and water. At the end he paints a basic scene and makes intentional mistakes to show how to repair them.

This is a great DVD. He demonstrates various mountains, clouds techniques. You can practice along or go back and review. Watched him on PBS all the time. Great artist. Get this, next best thing and you can watch as many times as you want.

What can I say.... a 3x hour personal tutorial in the comfort of my own home - what an absolute treasure ! Had been concerned that it wouldn't play in English... (It certainly does). Sound and picture quality excellent. Sat through the entire 3x hours quite mesmerized.... worth every single penny & more. Always admired Bob Ross's painting skills, but this tutorial is captivating in its depth & quality.....

I bought this some time back... Bob Ross, how can you not love this guy? Let's make him into birds, yeah birds, except he was no mistake. He was an under appreciated genius. We can't all be Picasso, but I will settle for being a little like this lovely man. The lessons are good, although I would have liked less mountains. But his techniques work and I am happy with my progress. Easy to understand, easy to back it up and watch again when you own it. A little dated maybe with the colors used for the special effects pieces, but a great series to start with.
