Art & Method of the Violin Maker: Principles and Practices (Book Four of the Strobel Series for Violin Makers)

This book in conjunction with other books by Strobel make it possible to build an extraordinary violin. Of course you can’t take on a project of this nature without some background knowledge on how to work with wood.

This is a very good book for first time makers of a violin.

Are the measurements shown in imperial or centimeters?

Henry Strobel has placed new defination on the teaching of instrument making. This book has been used to teach the construction of the violin to my students. Understandable and easy to follow. I recommend this book for all new Luthiers. The other books of this series is a must have for instrument makers.

This book I found frustrating. At a quick glance it seems to be giving me information, but when I actually try to follow advise I come up short. It seems you my need to buy all his books to get real information out of this book. I will say I did find some useful information but was overall unhappy and was left with the feeling like a kid in a candy store with no money. Look and smell but nothing to eat.

Por razones que no entiendo, los libros de Strobel vienen en pasta delgada y en vez de meterlos en una caja protectora de cartón,Amazon los hace llegar en un sobre plástico. Resultado: llegan con dobleces. El contenido de este libro bien pudo agregarse en un apéndice en el libro "Violin Making step by Step" agrega mucha información que no viene al caso. Minucias.
