Works perfectly, great little device
Good little data logger. Currently in use to monitor a freezer. Relatively easy to program and configure and the data can be extracted as Excel data files (or other). Perfect for what I needed

RC-5 data logger - a flaw?
Bought this and played with it. The parameter has to be set up first (recording interval, correct time, and other settings) Note the time band is in UTC time (which is UK - 1 hour), so the setting needs to be UTC + 1 to show the correct UK time. I Set the recoding for 10 second intervals. It owrked OK in a freezer (-20C) and fridge (5C) for one day each and both recorded correctly. I set the stop button from the default Disable to Enable setting. This allows recording to be stopped via the stop button on the device. However, this caused a problem. It seems that once the stop button is pressed, the device cannot be started again, even if the profile is updated (which resets the device).. The only way is to Disable the stop button. I phoned Elitech and spoke to a very helpful lady who went through a few things. End result is that she was unsure whether the way it works is how it's meant to be, or if the device is faulty. She suggested I return it and get the RC-5+ (better features) which is what I did.

Does exactly what it says
got this to check the temperatures in different rooms in my house at night as well as day. Easy to use although set up isn't very clear but can be worked out after a while. results are well presented.

Produces very nice reports of the data
Discreet size, reliable logging and the management software works with MacOSX as well as PC. Small issue with a particular driver software version (not the Management software) for OSX crashing the Mac but found a stable version online. Produces very nice reports of the data. The latter can also be saved as a raw Excel file. Recommended!

Will monitoring the temperature of a heated space help save energy bills? - A work in progress.
I bought this recording thermometer to monitor the temperature of a church hall that is for various community activities. My role is to programme the heating system so that users are warm which means switching on the heating before a session starts but not too early as this would waste expensive heating gas. I have programmed the device to measure the temperature every 10 minutes. The exercise is still in progress so I do not know what I have learnt so far. I will examine the data after a week of monitoring and adjust the switch on (and off) times accordingly and then reassess (i.e. repeat) the process. I am tempted to purchase a second monitor so that I can compare external temeperature with the internal temperature. Seems very good value but it is still a work in progress.

Followed the instructions on the get started leaflet
Followed the instructions on the get started leaflet and downloaded the software version 6.3 but I could not connect to this so I went to the manyacturer's website and downloaded version 6.4.6. The datalogger connected straight away.

Unacceptable customer service
Bought this RC_5 temperature data logger recently and was unable to get it to function properly. I contacted Elitech customer services/technical help to see if it was a faulty item or my mis-interpretation of the instructions and, after some time was asked to provide details and images of the problem plus proof of purchase. After another wait I received a reply declining to help as I 'didn't place an order on their Amazon store'. As my invoice/delivery note downloaded from Amazon clearly showed that it was sold by Elitech (UK) Limited, with a VAT number which corresponds to their registered company as seen on gov.uk, I was puzzled at their reply so I emailed again with the invoice clearly showing their details and-nothing-. No reply. Thoroughly disenchanted with this company.

冬場に発送した植物が、箱の中で何度程度維持されているか調べるために購入しました。非常に正確にデータが読み取ることができます。もともと15分毎刻みのポイントでしたが、もっと細かく設定もできるようです。

These loggers seem to do the job, but I found some inconsistencies between the two which I ordered and some lacking features in the software. The first thing I noticed was that the two devices disagreed about the temperature by 0.6°C. That's a lot for a device which supposedly receives a 6 point calibration at the factory. There is no software to support these devices on Linux, which is a big weakness for me. I eventually found an open source project which could talk to them on Linux. Unfortunately, the project has been abandoned for some time and would not work with Python 3.11. In the end, I was forced to test the Linux software in a virtual machine using a previous release of Debian. The open source project revealed that there was a calibration feature built in to the device which i could use to adjust the reading on the device which read 0.6°C too high and make it agree with the other device. However, the official Windows software does not make this feature available to the user. Why not? So, only four stars for this device. I have sent one out in a package with a temperature sensitive device which I have sent to a friend and will get it back in a week or so to be able to fully evaluate the data which it collects. tl; dr Calibration features missing in official software. Poor accuracy from factory calibration. No official Linux support. Otherwise, it seems to do the job. EDIT: I just got the logger back which I had sent away to a friend. The reports are easy to download and the PDF version is comprehensive and well laid out. I also received an update to the Windows software when I started it today to download the reports from its trip. It's good to see that the manufacturer keeps the software up to date. Now if only they could make the calibration feature available and maybe create a Linux version of the software...
