Piel Leather Three-Way Envelope Padfolio, Black, One Size

update 5/10/16Ordered one in the dark brown for a friend and it does not have the ridged sides and narrow bottom. I can comfortably get what I need in it. The light tan is so narrow and stiff that I had to remove the pockets from the inside so it could hold my tablet and a few papers. Still hard to zip shut even with the removal of the pockets so I only zip it half way. Not sure why but the dark brown is perfect and the light tan is worthless.Update 6/2/16I have downgraded from 5-3-1. Out of five ordered only two are usable, three are cheaper, stiffer, and pockets are smaller. Not the same tablet. The cheaper portfolios are so confined that the can hold very very little. Putting a Samsung tablet, although very thin, makes it hard to close .f there are many papers in the folder pockets. All I carry is about 1/2" of paper and my tablet on inside and that is too restrictive for this portfolio, even after I removed the paper tablet that came with it. just so you know, in two of the portfolios everything fits comfortably with room to spare. I can even put my phone in the pocket.(pic#2)Also the good one has label inside, soft, flexible and much thicker leather. Pic # 1 shows the difference in the pockets. All cam with the same zipper and paper tag so maybe the manufacture has cheapened it. If so, don't believe the rating because they could apply to the better one possibly not made any more.update 7/16/2016I have received the sixth portfolio and it is one of the bad. Four out of six were useless, less than a 1/4" of paper and a ten inch tablet will make it hard to zip. the manufacturer must have changed it because the two good ones ate ten stars an then they ship what I consider worthless. i kept the last one because I am tired of returning them. I Amazon customer service wasn't so great I would quit shopping there.this portfolio is NOT what is pictured.

If you order this item from Amazon, you will likely receive what appears to be a copy of the original product, produced to smaller specifications to save money. I ordered here first, and was surprised that the writing pad barely fit inside, that there were two pen holders instead of the three depicted in the photo, and that the phone and accessory holders were too small to hold anything a typical American would own. I contacted Piel directly to alert them to the deception. They agreed to match the Amazon price, so I returned the Amazon copy product and waited for the correct item from Piel. Boy, am I glad I did. Not only is the true Piel item much more usable, but it also doesn't smell like formaldehyde. Appears to be a higher grade of leather, better workmanship, and everything is properly sized and as depicted in the Amazon photos. My assessment of the true Piel product is 5 stars, but the copy is more like 2.5 stars.Amazon is being accused of copying its merchants' best-selling products, and I can believe it after seeing this. Save yourself time and money, order directly from Piel and get the product you'll use even if it costs you a few dollars more.

UPDATE June 1, 2012:I must say, after a few months of use, that I still could not be happier with this folio. I found that an iPad (third gen) fits nicely inside the pocket for papers. Also, I get probably 2-3 compliments on it per week, still. I'd buy this item over again in a heartbeat if I needed to.*******************ORIGINAL REVIEW:I was looking for a classy, functional folio case I could carry with me at work - something to contain a few business cards, meeting notes, pens, etc ... the basics. I am very happy at the receipt of this item! It is a high quality case, and I am confident it will last me for years.I considered taking a star off for the price, but then I thought that comparable folios would be even more expensive. So, I give this five stars with no reservations. If you can afford it and like classy things that last, get this.

Ordered this for my wife. She said she wanted a padfolio so the search began. She looooves it. She is an executive and needed something to keep all her stuff together for meetings but she didn't want a bag or briefcase. This one has plenty of pockets and holders for everything she needs. Can hold files, pens, business cards and all kinds of things. The leather is of good quality and the color is great. She gets compliments on it all the time. Fits a standard size top bound pad.

Wanted something modern, manly and handsome to give my hubs to take to his new college teaching job. Since I didn't get to look at it closely or touch it before purchase, I was slightly concerned that it might look like something an old man would carry. I wanted something that looked young and slightly casual and would match his cool Fossil messenger bag. When it arrived I was VERY pleased with the quality and look. The leather is soft and matte, and it's going to be perfect for putting all his teaching papers and whatnot in. He loves it. Would totally buy this again.

I bought the chocolate version of this as a gift for my wife, who is a high school volleyball coach. I really liked the layout of the pockets, which is the primary reason I purchased this padfolio. When it arrived, I found that the leather was soft and the construction was sound.My wife used it this past volleyball season, and found that there was plenty of room to put her various forms and stat sheets along with her cell phone, a calculator, etc.In summary, this padfolio is of exceptional quality and I liked the layout of the pockets. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality padfolio.

I've been getting compliments ever since I started carrying this around. The zipper really sticks if you open or close it all the way, but once you get the hang of pinching in the right place to stabilize it you can open easily enough.
