I bought this for my mom to give my dad as a Christmas present. He has done some leather working in the past and wanted a kit with more tools. I was surprised at how many items they fit in this case. He was very excited to receive this kit. My only suggestion would be to plan on buying a separate organizer. All of the items are loose in this kit - there is nothing holding items in place like you would normally see in a mechanics tool kit.

I’m a beginner & just started leathercrafting classes at my local school district. Our instructor gave us a list of basics, including a tool kit recommendation from a major hobby store. The major hobby store kits failed all of us (mislabeled and missing tools) hahah! I purchased this one in a pinch. The variation of tools in a case with a basic instructional booklet (and overnight delivery) sold me. This kit was great to take to class the next morning & matched the quality of tools that my instructor provided during class. The plastic case is too small for everything to fit properly. When I’m finishing up a project, the last thing I want to do is puzzle and Tetris together my kit. The case needs improvement in size & the latches feel a little flimsy for as heavy as the load is with everything inside. As far as the tools — perfect for a beginner to tinker with or travel with!

So far the lot has been a great value for the money, the only issue I had is the stitch groover blade is complete utter trash, it's about $7 to buy a replacement blade but otherwise it's a great starter kit. I really like that it included the stamps. You'll need a hole punch and mallet separately but harbor freight can help you with that under $10. All in all this kit comes the closest to everything you'll need for the price. There are kits with more tools and features but they cost more and sometimes you just get more stuff you won't need. Find a project you want to do then find a kit with the tools for that project.

I bought this set as a starter set for my daughter who is interested in leathercraft. It was perfect with quality tools and materials. She loved it ,reasonably priced ,with its own carrying case.

Whether you need to start from scratch, like me, or just add to your tools, this is a great kit. I am a bladesmith that recently started making sheaths and this was my first kit. I am VERY happy with the variety and quality of this set. I am able to make all my sheaths, no problem. I also love how much wax string is in this kit. I made 2 full sheaths and barely used a quarter of one roll. The tools are sturdy and function well. The only down side is that the case is small so once you remove everything, you probably wont get it back in. I'm not going to take any stars away because I bought it for the kit, not the case. I ended up buying a cheap tackle box to organized all my leather and leather accessories. A+

It's a lot of stuff. A lot of cheap stuff you probably won't need much of... For some reason you get 2 stitch wheels and they aren't really used much in leather working. You don't get any chisels for punching stitch holes - instead you get these cheap plier type things to punch stitch holes. Don't waste your time trying to use that thing unless you want all your holes misaligned top to bottom. Oh and side to side even - trying to use pliers to make those very important holes will just leave you frustrated - just don't. The good side - lots of needles, xacto is ok, swivel knife is ok, the stamps are ok. I had to sharpen the punches as soon as I got them with a rotating tool- they were incredibly dull. They don't give you a real knife in this kit - exacto is ok for tiny cuts but not big long ones. Get yourself a box cutter, some edge bevelers, chisels, and sharpen the punches and you'll be ok. I would not pay the full price for this kit, it's not worth it - I got it for 59.99 and that's almost more than I should have paid. There are cheaper kits with the same useful tools and less garbage. The work surfaces were painfully bent. The entire thing was wrapped in about 5 pounds of plastic, I think it took a half hour just to unwrap things. Hugely wasteful and clearly hadn't been unwrapped since it left whatever sad factory it came from. Don't use the stitch holes pliers unless you want to ruin your projects.

Awesome starter kit, great price

It was exactly what my husband wanted.

The case is definitely not durable. This arrived today and the side of the case was broken. I spent a bit more on this one because it came with the case but there are other kits for cheaper with no case. Don't make the same mistake just get the kit with the tools and get your own storage.
