Perfect for nabbing danger noodles
My daughter was the recipient of 2 rather opinionated ball pythons. Jimmy and What's His Face (yes that's really his name) had not been handled much in the past 15 years when she recieved them. This snake hook has been a hand saver (literally) when it comes time to clean their tanks and feed them. Being collapsible makes it easy to store without taking up much room, yet it's still sturdy enough to handle a full grown python. I highly recommend for handling any spicy danger noodle you may have in your life.

Perfect for pet snakes in hard to reach places
I bought this to help retrieve pet snakes from the far reaches of their terrariums. It works perfectly for this. My largest snake is around 5 pounds and the hook handles him very well. It is well made, and is a great size. I liked it so much I got my son one as well.

Off label use
So, I purchased this not for snake handling, but to open doors. I don’t have the use of my hands and I am in the wheelchair, and I am doing an internship at a medical facility that requires us to badge in and open the door. This is been amazing for the purpose that I use it for, it is sturdy, and after a week week of use is still holding strong. The doors themselves offer. Probably about 5 pounds of force to open because they are on the spring Hinge and this handles that with no problem. It is light weight enough that I can use it in my mouth, while still being heavy duty enough to handle the door and doing my badge in. I absolutely love this because it makes it so that I do not have to bother the rest of the staff all the time for help with doors and the bonus for me is the flat tip design where I’m able to slide my badge on to hold it up to the scanner, but it does not slide all the way down the hook, so I can knock it off with the door handle, and still get to the door handle in the time that the badge scanner gives me!

Very useful
This is a nice little tool and seems well made. The only thing I would change is enlarging the hole where you can attach a wrist strap. etc. I wanted to put a key ring on it but nothing was thin enough so I had to use a piece of wire. I must say I did not buy this for snakes. I bought it to put in my purse so I can reach the top shelves in stores. Every time I shop there is an item on the top shelf pushed way back and I often leave without buying it. This little is far less conspicuous than carrying around a grabbing reacher. It works great for this purpose and I love it.

Great for small snake handling - pocket sized.
This hook is pretty much an old style car or a portable radio antenna with a hook affixed to the distal end. It's stronger than in at first appears, but it's simply not made to hook or pin larger snakes given that it has limited stoutness or strength when cantilevered out after extending the handle/shaft insufficient to hold much torsional weight, and it tends to want to reclose from it's extended configuration when downward pressure is transferred from handle to hook base when it's used to pin snakes of much strength or size. This creates a need for hypervigilence when using it for venomous specimens. This hook is, however, very easy to carry in your pocket (especially the back pocket), with easy access therefrom. I use mine exclusively for the sole two venomous I currently hold - both pygmy rattlesnakes, for obvious reasons. I can readily recommend this for smaller and non-venomous snakes....Pygmys are about the maximum sized venomous snakes I'd be truly comfortable working with using this hook, though I wouldn't summarily preclude it's use on larger venomous snakes if one exercises due diligence and care with their handling, often in a situation where you may be uncomfortable retrieving a more robust hook due to an immediate need to handle. It's also very, very handy for hooking water bowls for removal thereof and other items within venomous cages to move the item to a point for safe reach. Even given the clear weaknesses, I truly love mine and keep it handy at all times in my vivaria areas...and the back pocket is one such storage spot.

Quality hook
Very good quality for a small telescoping hook, better by far than the ZooMed small hook. It is not meant for maneuvering larger snakes. I use it with mainly young snakes and adults of smaller species.
