It was real, fresh and breath taking. Couldn't have read this book at a better time! So glad that my friend recommended it, and it's gonna be on my re read list for a long time!

This book is a wholesome representation of human life friendships, love affairs, heartbreaks, career ups and downs and the wisdom which got collected into the pot through exploration. Her life is gracefully capsulized in a few words, a perfect blend of raw wisdom and vulnerability. The writing is top-notch, witty and hilarious in a humorous way. You feel you are sitting in front of her and having your own VIP experience. The idea of a memoir in the early 20s and 30s is a unique way of expressing how insanely piquant one can be. Who said it's all about good decisions? The wrong one matters equally. Those heartbreaks are the epitome of our resilient self and adoring that part is irrefutable. It beautifully depicts the female friendship beyond companionship, how two different personalities can coexist together and make a home together irrespective of their differences. It touches on the point of self-love". People tend to fill the void in their hearts and look outside for the piece of the puzzle to fit there, which was never a Pokémon to be collected. The amount of time you can resonate with the emotion she has displayed here is insane, everyone is kind of juggling in their own life in a shuffled manner. Overall, it was a riveting read leaving you to contemplate "your pages"!!

This was my second book from Dolly, and she just became my favourite. Her writing style and transperency captured me. Funny, touching and takes you through the rollercoaster of emotions and lands you smoothly at the end.

The book arrived with the cover crumpled and cramped into a box with other items. Other than that it's fine.

i read it. i felt seen. my mom read it. she felt seen. my grandmother read it. she felt seen. this perfectly captures girlhood. every woman should have this on her nightstand. and if she doesn’t, i hope someone will introduce her to this cause oh god, the author knows me better than my own self.

Value of money

This is such a feel good book. The moment I finished this book, there was this sense that certain emotions and experiences are so universal. It is like rite of passage that everyone has to go through. The self doubt, friends getting married (especially if you are the last one left), your best friend finally finding the love of her life and the marrying the guy- that pang of jealousy that one feels and so many such emotions. It is a very simple, yet profound read, and offers one a very comforting place.

The author really nailed it. I could relate to alot of the topics and experiences shared in this book. Thank you.

I understand that some people don't see the point in the book, because there is no plot in the classical way. But that's what I LOVED about it. It is fun on the one hand and made me cry on the other hand, it has it's ups and downs - and that is just like life is! My personal life couldn't be more different to Dolly Aldertons but I just enjoyed all the stories and just felt so included like I would be part of her life. It's a memoir so don't expect a proper story but more like snippets of a life of someone in her twenties exploring herself, love, her friends, her life.

As a person in her late sixties, I was interested to know what life is like for young women. Phone-driven, of course, and possibly there’s more shagging, and more Class A drugs (and casual acceptance of them), but otherwise, not so different from the sixties and seventies. Of course, a lot depended on the kind of person you were. My life was pretty straight but for those who really got into the swinging sixties, Dolly’s life would be very familiar. What is lovely about this book is the theme of solid friendship with her female friends. And I loved the therapy parts where she really gets sorted, seeing, then leaving behind her destructive patterns and coming to a peaceful self-acceptance. There are parts that are funny, parts that are sad, and parts that are wise. It’s a great book, and Dolly herself sounds like a great person. Like me and many others, there’ll be sections you’ll want to highlight.
