These are the gates I prefer when I need to confine my dog to a certain room or space, and they were my favorite when my now-teenaged kids were toddlers, to restrict their access to stairs, sequester them in a play area, etc…we even use them to keep our dog away from the pool pump area so that some backyard spaces are free and clear from …the evidence (of dogs in the vicinity)…that no one wants to accidentally step in. They are surprisingly sturdy and user-friendly once you get the hang of them. It’s really cool how adjustable they are, providing a wide range of options from narrow to extra wide in the same unit. In fact, I don’t know of any other pet gate or baby gate (that is not freestanding, meaning it is adjusts to fixed sturdily to both sides of an opening) that open as wide as these. They’re pretty durable as long as they’re used correctly, but eventually, of course, they show signs of wear. Again used correctly they can last years. They’re not upscale or fancy, but they’re not hideous or cheap looking either. They are more aesthetically pleasing, for example, than a plastic white gate, and they also do not show dirt or dust now that I think about it. What stands at the most though is how simple and functional they are. They simply do the job and they do it well. They’re versatile, and come in various widths and height, including extra tall and extra wide, but again very adjustable as well, so they can be used in a doorway or in much wider space to divide rooms or limit access: And they’re so easy to take up and down. They’re very mobile. They can be erected and removed in seconds, and there’s never any damage to the walls or stairs or banisters or wherever you mount them. I’ve used them for years and have no need for any other type of gate. These are the best ones for the kind you can take up and down in a flash.

There are many options to block doors; however, this is one inexpensive option. The gate is well made. It is not the easiest to secure to opening; but its not that difficult either.

I love this gate! It is taller than the average gate, and that is an awesome feature. I don't have to worry about my baby trying to climb over it, but it keeps the dogs from jumping over it too, which I can't say for the shorter ones. I also appreciate that it can fit a normal doorway, but it can also go much more wide than the average gate as well. Very helpful when I want to put it somewhere besides the doorway. Super easy to install and easy to use as well. I like how the bar clips down onto the other bar without any extra hardware. That's a big part of the reason I chose this one. I love this gate and am so happy I purchased it.

Bought two of these for the grandkids and absolutely love them. Super secure and easy to fit. I have no fear of someone falling down the stairs. Also, if you have a child (or pet) that can figure out how to get the gate to open, they will have a very hard time. And, by that time you will be on to them!

Very stiff latch and adjustment lever. Nice height though. Sturdier than the plastic fencing ones. Just quite difficult to open and close the latch.

I love my doggy/puppy gate. I am writing this review to let you know I have three 7-9 lb Shih Tzu and they do great with this gate. I love my new gate and my dogs can jump against it at the same time. I used my old baby gate before and the mechanism that you use to tighten the gate in place quit working. I only had the gate for 1 year and it died. I had this new gate years before only shorter and my dogs could climb it and get out. No problems like that with this higher style gate. Anyone who complains about the gate making marks in the wall are putting it in the wrong place. If they rent they should put a piece of material between the walls and make sure the clamp part of the bar is not pressing on the wall. If you have a doorway nearby use that instead but still make sure that the longer piece of the bar is not pressing on the wood of the doorway. There is a wider part and that will allow the most pressure on the gate. MY COMPLANT: I can't step over it but that's the only bad thing I can say about it. Sure if my legs were longer I wouldn't have that problem, but I never wanted to be 6'4". You're gonna love your new gate. People with smaller dogs will love it -- you can even use it for kids.

These are the best gates made. Been using these types for over 50 years. Don't go for the new plastic ones, they bend out of shape are hard to lock. These are reliable for years. Perfect.
