My new favorite bag
I bought my first DSLR last November and so I'm a newbie in the DSLR world. I needed something to transport/protect my new investment so I started my search. I was happy with my first purchase, the Timbuk2 DSLR messenger bag that was made specifically to house both a laptop and a DSLR. However I realized there were times where I just wanted to carry around the DSLR and not have an entire messenger bag with me. I didn't want something that screamed out "expensive DSLR here, please rob me now." Enter the Lowepro Passport Sling. It looked nice and compact in size and looked like it would fit my needs. After I purchased it, it was my new favorite bag! I love having my DSLR handy with me at all times to capture any photo moment and this bag allows me to conveniently do just that!OUTSIDE STORAGE:It's a good travel bag where I can keep my wallet, DSLR, and a few other small miscellaneous items. I have used the zipper extension part a couple times when I carried more things than the bag could fit, but I prefer it zipped up smaller so it's not as bulky. It doesn't make it intensely bulky, but its more compact and in my opinion looks better smaller. There is also a side slot-like pocket also allows me to carry a water bottle and on both sides more side slot-storage pockets as well to clip a spare pen and sometimes I shove small papers there temporarily. They are not sealed pockets though, but snug enough to keep papers in.INSIDE STORAGE:There is a small mini pocket inside to store extra memory cards. There are also two little storage pockets that have a velcro enclosure. I've fit random small items like medicine bottles, flash drives, nail clippers, etc. and sometimes all of those items at once in one of the pockets.CAMERA STORAGE:The inside has the padded section to fit my DSLR and I have my 35mm prime lens plus hood that fits perfectly in there. The lens sticks out approximately 4 inches from my camera and could fit a lens a little longer than that. The padded section that protects the camera is held in place with velcro and can be easily removed if you want to use the bag just for storage and not specifically for a DSLR.COMFORT:The bag is pretty comfortable. It's small enough for me to carry around wherever I go, but a little bigger than the usual purse size. I got used to it though because I love being able to carry around my DSLR with me everywhere I got without a huge bag. I find the bag not too heavy at all and there is a little padded part of the strap that makes it more comfortable to carry, as well as a small rubber portion on the bottom of the strap padding to prevent slipping when resting on your shoulder. The strap length is adjustable so you can wear it up higher or lower as you please.CONCLUSION:I hope this review helps. I love this bag for the uses I need it for. It's definitely not a bag that will hold everything one of those pro photographers need where they have multiple lenses and other gear. Then again, you choose what you wear around based on your needs. If you need to travel light, but want to carry the essentials, this bag does the job, is sturdy, compact, comfortable, and in my opinion good looking. I got the black bag and loved it so much that I got it as a gift for a friend that also started shooting as well. She saw mine and was wanting to buy the same one so I got it for her and she loves it too! I'm completely satisfied and have no complaints :)

Great camera bag for a bridge camera or a small DSLR and some accessories.
This bag is almost exactly what I was looking for; overall I think it's a great buy, but it definitely will depend on what your individual needs are for...there's no way that it will work for everyone.First, I think that It's a pretty good looking bag; not typical of what camera bags normally look like. I bought it in black and I think it looks pretty stylish, yet is still fairly functional. Some people (and some other reviewers) may say that it looks a bit like a man purse or a "murse". I can see how some may think that, because it doesn't look like a typical camera bag....but on the other hand, that is a bit insecure. If you wear it on one shoulder, it probably would look a bit like a purse. If you wear it across your body, then it looks like a sling-style bag...which is exactly what this bag is marketed as. I'm a male, and I'm perfectly comfortable with how this bag looks, especially as I mostly wanted something that would be functional and not obviously look like a camera bag. I will be traveling with this bag and my camera in various areas of the world...some not as safe as others. I didn't want a bag that screamed to potential thieves, "Hey, there's probably an expensive camera and some gear in here! Come steal me!"Now, speaking of the camera and gear...this is where there might be issues for some people using this bag. It's not actually that big. I am using it for a bridge camera, so it works pretty well, with some extra room to spare if I place it in the bag, lens down even with the divider in place in the camera compartment. With the divider removed, it will probably fit small DSLRs perfectly fine as well...however, larger DSLRs may have trouble fitting in the camera compartment of this bag. If you plan on carrying around a large DSLR, plus a few extra lenses, you probably will need to look into a different bag. If you are planning on using this with a bridge camera or a small DSLR though, then this bag should be good for you even with a decent amount of equipment. Here's what I'm using it for at the moment:- Canon SX50HS, two extra batteries, the battery charger, a couple of memory cards, a filter case with room for three filters, a lens hood, and a Joby Gorilla Pod Hybrid.Everything fits comfortably inside the bag, each with its own designated spot. I actually still have some room to spare on the inside of the bag, as since I use the camera compartment divider, I have room on the side of the compartment opposite of my camera. I'm not currently designating the outside pockets of the bag for anything in particular...I'll probably just use them for water bottles and/or loose non-camera related items while I'm out. Also, I have to note the the "cell phone" pocket in the bag (as many reviewers here are using it for) will not fit many newer smartphones. I never planned on using the pocket for my phone, so it's not a big deal for me (that's where I'm putting my battery charger); but it will not fit my Galaxy Nexus smartphone anyway. My phone has a 4.65 inch screen so it's on the larger size....other newer smartphones with large screens such as the Nexus 4, the Galaxy S3, the HTC One X, Droid DNA, etc, will not be able to fit in the "cell phone" pocket. Phones with smaller screens such as the iPhone 5 and older and/or smaller Android and Windows smartphones should probably be fine though. I think the pocket would have held my old phone with a 4.3 inch screen fine, but that probably would have been around the max limit....a phone with a screen larger than that most likely would not fit.My only real gripe with the bag, is that it might be a little slow to get to my camera out if I want to take a quick shot of something. My old bag had the option to both zipper and Velcro the main compartment. Many times while traveling, I would leave the zipper undone and close the compartment with the Velcro; if the need for a quick and unexpected shot would occur...I could swiftly open the bag, pull my camera out, take the shot, put my camera back in, and securely Velcro the bag again. This was mostly useful is the above-mentioned areas of the world where I would not necessarily want to walk around with my camera in my hand at all times. Because this new bag has one, very long zipper running the length of the bag, it would be very difficult to achieve this routine fast enough to get a quick shot of something. It is a trade off that I made, but have not had the chance to test yet...hopefully it will not be too much of an issue going forward.Overall, I really like this bag. It has plenty of room for my gear, yet it does not feel bulky or cumbersome at all. It looks good and seems like it is well-made; I expect that it will hold up for quite a few years. If you have a bridge camera or a small DSLR and are looking for a camera bag, that doesn't necessarily look like a camera bag, then this might be the perfect bag for you. I highly recommend it.
