VS-82 is an ultra-compact, lightweight and convenient table tripod
Not too long ago, we were looking into products that could help us further out content here at MacSources. One of the items we came up with was a short, table top tripod. Part of the reason for this was so that our teleprompter (R810-10) could sit closer to us when we do video review. We started doing our research and found that the Vanguard VS-82 was exactly what we were looking for. For starters, the VS-82 can hold up to 5.5 lbs and the teleprompter – our main reason for this search – only weighs 5 pounds. Secondly, the tripod swivels 360º and has a 2-way pan head. The versatility of a professional-grade full-size tripod packaged in a smaller, lightweight product was what we were looking for and we found it in the Vanguard VS-82. First Impressions Upon its arrival, we were instantly surprised at its weight. Even though we knew before ordering it that it weighs just under 1 pound, it was still a bit shocking considering how well it is made. It is made primarily from aluminum and comes equipped with a standard tripod mount. This will work with most modern cameras and can be replaced if lost. Because it’s a table top tripod, it only measures 9 7/8” high when it’s fully extended. The nice thing about it is that when its legs are fully extended, they have a nice, wide stance and includes non-slip feet. It’s very secure and doesn’t wobble at all if it’s on a flat surface. Utility When we moved on to the testing of the tripod, we used several types of cameras and tripod-mountable devices. We used everything from a full size Canon DSLR to our iPad Teleprompter to an iPhone 6 (mountable with a tripod adapter) and found that the Vanguard VS-82 was a very useful, sturdy tripod. The most impressive thing to me was the teleprompter. Even though it’s lightweight in its own rite, it’s still an awkward shape and a bit front heavy. I thought for sure that the tripod would succumb to the teleprompter’s irregular measurements and tip forward. But, this little stand surprised me. It held strong and kept the teleprompter nice and steady. Conclusions The Vanguard VS-82 is definitely worth buying for any photographer or videographer who wants to up their game and add to their equipment arsenal. The tripod has an MSRP of $29.99 and is completely worth the price. "This product was received at a free or discounted price in exchange for my review. Nice, Compact, and sturdy
This is what I have been needing for a while since I started hitting the gun range. My spotting scope has a full-sized tripod that just seems to get in the way of my feet. and having to move it into place to check down range was just a pain at times.so I started looking for something compact. came across this one and from the description it was more of what I was looking for with a max height of slightly less than ten inches I knew it would work out got it mounted the scope and it was a perfect fit. no more hassle moving it around to check my shots. It holds the scope securely and the plastic parts are of a decent quality material. As the legs are short and metal my scope is not heavy it's 2.4lb the tripod has a max supporting weight of 5.5 lbs. I don't know about that, but it is well-built, and it just may hold its claims. Overall, I feel it's a good tripod I don't toss my items around in a pile and hope they don't get damaged. Everything has a place whenever I'm done using it so this item will be put back into my range bag and stored in a safe location away from falls and accidental kicks. I believe this will last a good long while with regular use. "Happy Shopping Guys"

Built Like A Hummer - Make Sure Height Suits Your Needs
Talk about the little Tripod that could. I've had great use of it for table top photography. It's rock solid and supports my favorite new Bridge camera the Panny FZ200 with ease and at any angle. I have a bunch of Tripods ranging from Amazon basics to some very heavy Tripods by ravelli and a few other brands most all of which have been Amazon purchases. I'll caveat this review by making it clear I'm not a pro, just an enthusiast of still photography and Video. Because I do a good deal of table top photography and my tripods are your standard 62-72 inch floor standing models, I can't get close enough to my subject on my work area which is just an infinity background, a bunch of 5/K lighting diffusers and bounce cards. And so the search for a compact, solid Tripod began. The reviews of the Vanguard won me over and here's what I like about it. * Extendable legs with a wide spread make for ideal balance. Like a linebacker or one of our bulldogs the tripod was well designed to disperse weight with a low center of gravity. * Excellent Build quality, nice textured rubber feet for added stability * Easy to adjust * Quality carrying case is always a nice touch What's not so great: * Tricky head isn't smooth, I didn't expect a fluid head but this ones a bit sub par * My fault for not double checking minimum height. But the tripod stands to high. If you need to be 1 cm away from your subject and you're on a level playing ground you'll be better off with a book or two to rest your camera on. * The fixed plate is a pain, no question about it. Not a deal breaker but even the cheap quality Pods have a universal quick release plate. * Pivot is restrictive and cumbersome if I need to switch to Portrait and flop my camera on it's side instead of an easy glide you have to fiddle and fuss with it and still the end result isn't ideal. However, despite it's draw backs, if it fits the bill and excels in performance where you need it most you'll be hard pressed to beat this Tripod at the price it's being offered. Highly Recommenced

I wanted this to hold my LabRadar chronograph and their branded one was very expensive and priced in $US. This one works perfectly and is very sturdy. It holds the chronograph unit perfectly and it has no tendency to tip. The legs do extend slightly (if you need that) but I was impressed with its stability and quality. It was an excellent choice.
