I stopped going to barbershops almost 20 years ago because I didn't like the atmosphere, intrusiveness of the barber's conversation, or the outrageous prices that seem to only get higher every year. My wife happily volunteered to cut my hair, and while she did the best that she could, I was reduced to a super low haircut that appeared to most that I was bald. I often tried to get her to learn how to give a more professional haircut by watching YouTube videos, but she was uninterested. So after 17 years I decided to take matters into my own hands, and that's when I found this product. I give it my highest rating. Not only can I cut my own hair whenever I want, it looks like I came straight from a skilled barber. My advice is to take your time and don't rush. The pictures shown below is from only from my second time of use. I'm getting better and better. You can't mess up with this product. I'd buy again in a heart beat 💓

Perfect for an even and straight beard!

I just recently started to cut my own hair. All I get when I go to the barbershop is a 1.5 (wavelength) that's supposed to be WTG (with the grain), but in most cases my waves get cut out; ESPECIALLY at the crown. Not only that, but my hairline is usually pushed so far back that I thought I was beginning to get a receding hairline in my late 20s for crying outloud! At the point of this review, this is my second time cuttin my own hair. I could NOT line myself up freehanded. It's just hard to get a straight line that way with no barber experience. I've seen the cut buddy plenty of times on youtube and said "screw it why not?" Let me tell you..... my line right now is sooooooooooo crispy! I can't even believe that I did it myself! I have literally been going to and from the mirror all night amazed at the fact that I was able to do this myself. And guess what? MY LINE ISN'T PUSHED WAY BACK TO 1920 lmao! I don't feel like I should have been paying $20 for an even-all-over and a line up. I don't have any barber skills and was able to pull it off myself with ease thanks to the cut buddy. I'm not into tapers, fades and all of the other stuff. All I like to do is bring my waves out, box off the back and line the front and sides. That's literally it. If you're like me, buy this product. Even if you like to taper you can learn to do that too if it's THAT important to you. I don't have a beard so the two main portions were the straight edge and side burn shapes. I'm greatful for this device because this simple design will now save me approximately $480 a year ($20 haircut x 2 weeks (twice a month) x 12 months). Like 360 jeezy said "if anybody is going to mess up my hair, it's going to be me. I'm not paying a barber to mess me up!" Enough said! :) Also, I did not use the pencil that comes with it for the line. I think that's something that is better suited for cutting someone else's hair. Update: Now that I've learned how to freehand my lineup I really don't use this tool anymore. I think it's still good for beginners, but once you get comfortable and learn how to do your line without the tool your line will look way better.

Servers its purpose

The design of this product is flawed. I have only used it twice and have been dissatisfied with the results on both occasions. The product has thick edges that taper down to a point, which allows your trimmer to get underneath the edge and ruin your work. There are also small tic marks along the edge that cause your trimmer to get caught and prevent you from getting a smooth motion and cleaner lines. Note: I've been able to make a better version of this product myself by tracing my preferred angles onto card stock and laminating it with packaging tape.

C'est mon deuxième. J'ai le plus petit en noir qui j'utilise en alternance. C'est un outil idéal pour bien tracer sa barbe à la maison.

I only use it for my beard as I can line up the rest of my hairline freehand. The edges of the plastic are too thick and make it slightly difficult to get the blade of the liner right up against it. Should release another version with thinner edges.
