Needed a good 8" subwoofer . Took a chance on this one for a few reasons.One being is it spends it's time in the back of my wagon with work tools so the provided grill does a good job, and being a "marine" unit, is that it is weather resistant so a little dirt and water won't hurt it too much. Third reason is that I was looking for a sub with lower RMS capability so it matches better to my amp (200 watt) so it's runs more efficiently Now then the sound. Pretty darn good. I used to run a 12" rockford sub with a matched box with the same amp. It was not feasible to use it in my car however, so I need something a little smaller....Compared to my one 12" it gets the low notes pretty good. It doesn't hit as hard and quite as low as a better 12. but it's probably 80% as good for most music. It makes a good rumble with rap/techno, and with the box it's in it's plenty tight and follows along great with rock and country music as well. A good box for any sub is key. If you don't have a good, properly matched box, it's going to sound like garbage no matter what. overall, for the price I'm pretty happy with this little sub. If i get a few good years out of it I'll be happy. I'm a dad with 2 kids though, so I never really get too rowdy anymore anyway, but still enjoy the low end a decent sub provides.

rock speakers, omni directional speakers, burial speaker subs, all too expensive when on a budget. want to save money and still get the low end sound to complement your 3 way speaker then this is for you. i paired this with an 8in speaker box and it works great. i mean you can feel the bass even at low volume.

First off, would have given 5 stars but it did not come with a pattern to cut out a hole in my custom built box. With the small lip, its hard to guess\measure where to cut the hole, but I made it work. Other than that, great speakers. Put 1 in my Rhino side-by-side under the drivers seat and paired it with a PYLE PLMRA420 4-Channel 1,000-Watt also purchased from amazon (run my door speakers off of the other 2 chanels). Hits hard for an 8" 400w, although I know pyle has a tendancy to over-rate their products wattage (and also, due to lack of room under the rhino's seat, my box was only .6ish cubic feet which is below the recommended .7 - 1.0 cubic feet for 8" subs). But it hits hard enough for me. Seems to be holding up pretty well as far as the "marine" part goes, but its only been 2 weeks and 1 powerwashing session, but it still works. You cant beat this speaker for the money. And if it breaks.....get another! 20 bucks aint bad for a marine sub if it'll last a year

Worked perfectly to add a subwoofer to my pontoon boat. I mounted it under one of the seat boxes, and it really puts out a lot of bass.

I have had these speakers, 2 sets of them 8 months or so, 2 of them the terminal that you connect the speaker wires to rusted off and away, marine speakers my ASS, these speaker are not marine speaker, to rust out so fast, they are make like crap, stupid star rating wont even let you submit with out even picking 1 star, your speakers are junk, and so is your star rating system

I am driving this with a Boss R1100M amp and it sounds awesome. I built my own enclosure for it using an on-line calculator (search for ajdesigner). At first it was iffy whether I could build it at all since it didn't come with speaker specs (Vab, Qts, etc) and there was nothing on the website. I emailed Pyle Audio and they sent me the specs the next day. Maybe they will put them on the web site now that they know. I've only used for an hour or so, so I can't comment on reliability, but it is made well and looks like it will stand up to the elements (salt water splashes, etc)

Very important,, measure you speakers or box before you order these,, an easy swap turned into a construction project.. the sound good i am running them with 120 watt amp,, but anything with bass above 8 on the volume dial and they bottom out bad and rattle,, but for a cheap set they are ok.. if you wanna rattle windows i highly recommend solabaric sl7's they are high but 1 of those will blow most speakers away if you build you box right and sling some power to it..

My sub blew up after 10 minutes use from new not impressed !!!! I’ve had many different brands before and this is jus the worst !!!

Would buy again. Solid for those not wanting to spend thousands on a sound system, these are going in an 18ft bowrider, bought the sub and 4 speakers, had them hooked up already prior to install and they sound great.
