GREAT razor. You Get A Really Close Shave
It's a great traditional tried-and-tested double edge razor, and the Wilkinson Sword blade is incomparable. I usually shave with a straight razor, and I like that the best, it gives the closest, most uniform shave, and it costs nothing except the razor, strop, and a couple of stones for honing. But it take time to learn the skill of honing the blade, and sometimes the edge needs a touch up and you are in a hurry. Plus, you can't shave with a straight razor in the shower (you must have the mirror). So, for convenience this razor is great. The blades last a long time as they are stainless steel, and they are much CHEAPER than the rip-off cartridge razors with 3, 4, and now 5 blades--and there is NO PLASTIC to dispose of. NONE. You can even get double edge blades in WAX PAPER packaging. Having said all that, you can shave without hurting yourself immediately. With a little practice (like 2 or 3 shaves) you can get nearly as close a shave as you can with a straight razor. One thing I like about the straight razor is that the next day, as your beard starts to come back, the stubble feels really good, not harsh like with an electric or one of these plastic monstrosities. Well, this Wilkinson Sword blade does very close to the same thing. Even with a day's growth, my face still feels, well, nice and civilized. So for $16.00, you can try it out, and you won't be disappointed. Plus, unless you want to grow a beard, you have to shave every day. Trying out different methods is fun. This one is particularly fun. Get some good shave cream. Don't ever use that chemical crap they sell at the supermarket. Get the best, Proraso, from Italy, and get yourself a decent shaving brush, I recommend Omega professional. It's boar bristle, but actually, that is the best. Badger is expensive, overrated, and generally if you get Badger online, it is going to be fake, colored Boar. Just get the boar. I works better. Any kind of small bowl will work for the lather, but with the Proraso and the omega, you can basically wet your face, rinse the brush in hot water, squirt the Proraso into the brush and make the lather on your face. Proraso is the best, it smells good, softens and protects, and you can imagine you are in an Italian barbershop getting a barber shave and the go get some realy neapolitan pizza with that gorgeous dark haired girl who is flirting with you through the barbershop window. Have fun. You shave every single day. Make it an adventure.

A Hidden Gem in a Sea of Garbage
This razor is just the right thing for beginners and pros to enjoy. The handle is long enough for people with bigger hands (such as myself) to comfortably hold onto the handle or the end of the handle without feeling tired or annoyed from the typical small sized handles that other companies (such as Van Der Hagen) put onto their products/razors. However, the handle is just the right amount of length as well for smaller handed people to enjoy the shaving experience with it. The razor itself has a good weight to it, and will only need little to no pressure to glide well over your face and neck area. The butterfly opening is easy to open and close, and will not open accidentally until you open it. The handle features a beautiful elongated spiral pattern going vertically that provides extremely well grip for the user, and is something for the user to visually admire. The blades included are (believe it or not) extremely well made. Compared to Gillete Platinum (which are platinum coated) or even the Van Der Hagen (which are btter used for a refund or in the trash) blades that I have used, the blades provided, provided a smoother feel compared to either of the other blades. Note, that feedback highly depends on what your shave routine needs or your skin and facial hair type, but it doesn't hurt to try new things. This product worked well for me with my extremely sensitive skin, and with facial hair that is soft but on the thicker end of the spectrum. The shaving products, I use are the Shave Oil, Cremo Shaving Cream that's peppermint scented, and Harry's Post-Shave Balm. Either way, I feel because of the Teflon coating on the Wilkinson Sword blades, I could achieve a close shave with minimal irritation and/or bleeding. The razor itself is not aggressive and the blades are pretty forgiving. When using the right techniques and using products that work the best for you, this razor and it's blades make it almost impossible for you to cut yourself. I highly recommend this product from this company, they made a great product. I have used this product for two weeks since making this video in order to form an opinion and really try out the product to be able to provide a fair review.

Inexpensive and aggresive. Be patient and you'll be okay.
I was looking for something a little bit vicious or aggresive. This one had some reviews that mentioned that it was a prove to nic or cut you while other reviews said this was a terrific razor. I went with this one for the aggresiveness and inexpensiveness. It has cut me and I've bought a couple of septic pencils to deal with it. As I get used to using this razorthough I've become much more adept and careful. (It takes a little learning curve.) I mean really!? I would rather use a straight razor but don't have the patience and desire to be that awake to shave myself. A DE (doubel edge) razor is the BEST choice for ease and precision to use. Along with the cost of buying DE blades as apposed to electric or disposable multi-blade razors this is the clear choice.

A very good shaver, affordable price but with a somewhat dangerous design flaw
What's good: * The price is very reasonable. * The build quality is good. * Its a solid platform and presents the blade cutting edges at just the right angle and spacing. * The clamping mechanism is solid, feels very secure and should last a good long while. * It provides a very close, comfortable shave and doesn't scrape you if you need to press a bit harder in areas. * Good stem length and it provides good grip even in the shower. What's not good: * Not too much really, except for: * The folding doors are not long enough to cover the ends of the blade. They stick out either side by ~1.5 mm, which is a serious hazard once you clamp the blade down. The ends become very sharp and its easy to see how one might slice a finger or your face/leg if you're not careful about touching these sharp edges. This is also the case for the provided branded blades they include. Any double edge blades will have this issue with this razor. Overall, because its not easy to find a good, inexpensive double edge razor that provides a close shave, I've decided to keep this shaver. I will attempt to ALWAYS keep in mind these sharp blade ends are sticking out. I may even resort to grinding the ends of my blades enough to eliminate this hazard. If the designers fix this design flaw it would be a flat out, hands down recommended buy. Otherwise, let the buyer beware.

Smooth shave and no nicks on first use.
I've tried/used quite a few DE razors and for the price the Wilkinson Sword Double Edge Razor delivers a very nice, smooth shave. Found that with this razor, I received a very nice 'single pass' shave on most of my face, with only a couple areas that needed follow up passes to achieve an overall clean shave. Razor handle has nice weight too it and like the small grooves in the blade head. Easy loading with the twist bottom mechanism. No nicks and saved some time over my previous DE. For Double Edge Razor beginners, suggest making sure you apply minimal pressure when shaving or you'll likely end up with some nicks.

Not bad
Not too bad, but not too good either.. the best blade for me with this particular razor is Feather, but Astra being my preferred blade doesn't work well with this set up... But that me personally

Good value, will purchase again!
I love my Wilkinson DE razor. I am new to traditional safety razors and have found this brand to be super beginner friendly. Great value on the blades too. Way cheaper than buying disposables already. If you are hesitant to purchase, go ahead and try this brand of DE razor. It's worth every penny. Also I love how smooth of a shave it gives me. I would purchase another if needed. I'm pretty brand loyal so I feel I will only be using Wilkinson for my shaving needs from now on. It's a quality razor that won't break the bank account.

Good heft, good quality, and decent shave.
I give this a 5 star as it is a well built, butterfly open safety razor with some good heft. Now, it's great for my thick beard to give an initial two passes, but I switch to a Mach 3 to finish off for smoother. The safety feature is not as close/aggressive as a Merkur, so I'm sure for soft thin facial hair this will be awesome for smoother finish. For thick like mine, it's good, but not all the way. However, I will not knock off a star to 4 as I recognize the quality in design and intention. I'll continue using it too.
